Most of what goes wrong in a wall, a ceiling, or a cabinet happens where you can't see it, and the fix starts with a look. The Jonard Tools CF-200 WiSpy® is a contractor-grade wireless inspection camera that puts that look on your phone: a 720p HD camera with its own LED lighting, 3-1/4 in long and under two ounces, that streams over its own 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi link to the free WiSpy® app on iOS or Android from up to 50 ft line of sight. The lens focus is variable and controlled from the app, down to 2.5 in for reading a part number or a wire label, and an "always up" mode keeps the image the right way round no matter how the camera is twisted in the cavity. The camera is IP67 water-resistant, charges over USB-C in about 80 minutes for up to 90 minutes of running, and is independently tested to ETL Listed standards. It attaches to a range of extensions, so the same head goes on a telescoping pole for a ceiling, a gooseneck for a corner, or a rigid fishing extender with a hook or magnet to find and retrieve a cable in a wall, which is what makes it a cable-pulling tool as well as a camera.

What's in the Kit

  • WiSpy® CF-200 camera. 720p HD, app-controlled variable focus, LED lighting, IP67, USB-C charging.
  • CFP-60 telescoping pole. Reach for ceilings, plenums, and the top of a cabinet.
  • Gooseneck and rigid fishing extenders. Bend the camera around a corner, or push it straight down a wall.
  • Hook and magnet. Attach to the extender to grab a pull string or a dropped fastener while you watch.
  • Eight adapters. Fit the camera to the pole, the extenders, and other extensions.
  • USB charger. USB-C, fast charging.
  • CWB-11 cell phone wrist band. Keeps the phone on your arm and both hands on the pole.
  • Spare O-rings. For keeping the IP67 seal after the camera has been apart.
  • Protective EVA carrying case and instruction manual.

Features

  • App-controlled variable focus. Clear close-up viewing as close as 2.5 in (6 cm) for finer detail, such as part numbers.
  • Always-up mode. Choose normal or always-up view in the app settings; in always-up, the image displays the right way round however the camera is positioned.
  • Wireless to your phone. 2.4 GHz link with up to 50 ft (15 m) line-of-sight range, with a free app for iOS and Android.
  • Fast USB-C charging. Around 80 minutes to full, 95 percent in 60 minutes, for up to 90 minutes of operation.
  • IP67 water resistance. Rated for wet cavities, drains, and the weather.
  • ETL Listed. Independently tested to ETL Listed standards.
  • Attaches to a variety of extensions. Pole, gooseneck, rigid extender, hook, and magnet in the kit.

Where It Fits

It suits low-voltage technicians looking into a wall cavity before fishing a cable and then using the hook or magnet on the extender to retrieve the pull string, structured cabling crews checking a ceiling plenum or a cable tray for a clear path, electricians and HVAC techs inspecting inside boxes, ducts, and behind panels, plumbers and property managers looking down a drain or behind a fixture, home inspectors and remodelers who'd rather look than cut, security and AV installers planning a run behind a finished wall, IT staff reading the label on the back of a rack-mounted unit without pulling it, anyone who has drilled a hole and hoped, and a bag that already has the MRS-24 MagneTriever and MM-800 Magnamole for getting the cable through once you've seen where it needs to go. The FTS-50 fish tape and the rest of the pulling tools finish the job the camera starts.

Good to Know

Charge it before the job; 90 minutes of run time is for the LEDs on the medium setting, and brighter light or a cold day shortens it. The camera makes its own Wi-Fi network, so the phone connects to the WiSpy rather than the building's Wi-Fi, which means no data plan is needed and also means the phone's internet drops while it's connected; the 50 ft range is line of sight, and walls, ductwork, and metal cabinets cut it down. Set the focus in the app for the distance you're working at, close for labels and wide for a cavity, and switch to always-up before you start twisting the camera through a wall so you don't lose your bearings. IP67 means it survives immersion to a meter for half an hour, not continuous use underwater, and the seal depends on the O-rings, so inspect them and use the spares when one is cut or flattened. The operating range is 32 to 95 °F, so it's not a tool for an attic in August or a crawlspace in January without warming or cooling it first; storage runs wider. Keep the camera out of energized panels and treat any wall as live until proven otherwise; the camera is for looking, and the hook and magnet are for retrieving a pull string, not for fishing near live conductors. The adapters are small, so put them back in the case, and keep the wrist band on the phone when you're up a ladder.
