Locking terminators are access control for the operator's plant, and the tool is for technicians authorized to open and secure those ports; carry it on the strength of the work order. Match the terminator before you reach for the tool: the 0.218 in plunger is sized for the PPLT series, and a spring-ear, prong, or cam terminator won't engage it, so a terminator that won't open is the wrong type rather than a worn tool. Seat the plunger fully on the terminator before turning, and turn with steady pressure; a swivel terminator that won't move is seized or wrong, and forcing it rounds the plunger. Put the terminator back on every port you open and don't leave terminated, since an open tap port is both a leak and an invitation. Aluminum is light and won't rust, but it's softer than the terminator, so the plunger wears before the lock does; a tool that starts to slip on a known-good PPLT is due for replacement. Keep it on the belt loop; a terminator tool left on a tap or in a truck is how an unauthorized one ends up in circulation. Tap ports on a powered plant can be live; check before working at the tap.
