SC is the push-pull connector that most of the world's installed single-mode fiber is terminated on: patch panels, wall-mount enclosures, media converters, older switches, and plenty of current equipment where port density isn't the constraint. It's bigger than LC, easier to handle with gloves or in a dim closet, and it seats with a click you can feel. This cord has a pair of SC/UPC connectors on each end, for patching between SC panels or from an SC panel to an SC port on a converter or switch.

It's OS2 single-mode fiber, 9/125 µm, in a 3.0 mm duplex zipcord that's a little tougher than the usual 2.0 mm patch cord. Each cord is tested for insertion and return loss and the end-faces are checked by interferometer before it ships.

• 2.5 mm ceramic ferrules, checked by 3D interferometry for end-face geometry.
• Push-pull housings. Square latch that seats positively and releases without tools.
• Yellow PVC jacket, 3.0 × 6.1 mm. Heavier 3.0 mm zipcord for equipment rooms and trays.
• UL Listed for the US and Canada, and RoHS compliant.
• Thirteen lengths from 1 to 30 m.

Where It Fits

It suits jumpers between SC patch panels and enclosures, links from an SC panel to media converters, switches, and routers with SC ports, campus links between buildings whose fiber was terminated on SC, telecom and cable headend cross-connects on SC frames, and any single-mode link between two blue SC ports.

Good to Know

Both ends are UPC, so both of your ports need to be blue. If one end is a green SC/APC port, on an FTTH outlet, ONT, or PON gear for example, you want the SC/UPC to SC/APC cord instead; if the equipment side is LC rather than SC, look at the LC/UPC to SC/UPC cord. Keep dust caps on until the moment you plug in, and clean both the connector and the port with a 2.5 mm one-click cleaner before mating; a fingerprint on a single-mode ferrule costs more than the whole cord's loss budget. Single-mode fiber doesn't care about length at these distances, so pick the length that fits with a little slack and no coil. For runs longer than 30 m, or where the cord will be pulled through conduit, ask about an OFNR-rated cable.
