This is a simplex SC/PC fiber adapter for multimode, the beige coupler that joins two SC connectors end to end through a panel. It's a plastic housing with integrated flanges and a snap-in body in the standard SC simplex footprint, so it drops into the SC cutout on any patch panel, LGX plate, fiber distribution unit, or wall-mount enclosure without tools. The port has a phosphor bronze alignment sleeve, which is the usual multimode sleeve, and the housing is beige, which is the color code for multimode. It takes SC/PC connectors on multimode fiber. It comes with dust caps, it's RoHS compliant, and it's sold individually. Where It Fits

It suits a campus or a building backbone on 62.5 µm OM1 or older 50 µm multimode, where a cable is spliced to SC pigtails in the tray behind a panel and the plate has SC simplex cutouts to fill. It suits a wall-mount enclosure at a building entrance where a handful of multimode strands land on SC and each one is patched on its own. Installers loading a blank LGX plate or a fiber distribution unit port by port use it, and so do techs replacing a worn or cracked adapter in an existing SC panel without touching the plate. A school or a hospital with an OM1 trunk on SC is a candidate. It goes with the multimode SC patch cords from the fiber patch cable collection, with the SC pigtails, adapter plates, and keystones from the fiber panel collection, and with the rack-mount and wall-mount enclosures. Good to Know

The adapter doesn't care which multimode grade is on either side, which means it will happily mate an orange 62.5 µm OM1 cord to an aqua 50 µm OM3 pigtail, with the core mismatch loss landing at the adapter; keep the cords, the pigtails, and the plant all one grade, and let the jacket color be the cue. Beige is the multimode color, and the phosphor bronze sleeve is a multimode part; a single-mode plant wants the blue FOS-SCU-S with its ceramic sleeve, since a 9 µm core needs a tighter sleeve than this one holds. It's PC, with a flat end-face, for the beige SC/PC connector on every multimode cord and pigtail; a green SC/APC connector has an 8° angle and doesn't mate with it, and APC isn't used on multimode in any case. Simplex or duplex is the choice: this adapter holds one fiber, which suits single-fiber circuits or a panel where the pairing changes, while a duplex adapter keeps a transmit-and-receive pair side by side and keeps polarity for you; if two of these make a pair, label them. The snap-in flanges are what hold it in a stamped cutout, so check that the panel takes a flanged SC adapter before you order a quantity. Clean and inspect every ferrule before it goes in, and leave the dust caps in any port without a cord. Don't look into an open port on a live link.
