Solderless Ring and Lug Terminal Kit - 178 Pcs (TCK-178)

This is the terminal box for the van or the bench: 178 insulated ring, fork, and spade terminals and butt splices from Jonard Tools, covering 10 to 22 AWG in the three standard color codes, in a clear organizer case with a compartment for each size so you can see what's running low before the job that needs it. A panel's battery leads want a ring terminal on a #10 stud; a power supply's output strip takes a fork; a siren's pigtail meets the field wire in a butt splice; a quick-disconnect on a strobe is a male and female spade. The kit has all of them, in the red, blue, and yellow sizes that match the wire you're terminating, and every piece is listed to UL 486A-486B and UL 486C and certified to CSA C22.2 No. 65 and No. 188, so the termination is one an inspector recognizes.

Good to Know

Match the terminal color to the wire gauge and crimp it in the matching color nest of an insulated-terminal crimper; a red terminal on 14 AWG won't take the conductor, and a yellow terminal on 18 AWG won't grip it, whatever the crimp looks like. Strip to the barrel length and no more, so no bare conductor shows between the insulation and the sleeve, and give every crimp a gentle pull test. Rings are the most secure terminal on a stud, since the screw has to come all the way out for the wire to leave; forks are faster to land but can slip out under a loose screw, so torque the screw. Butt splices join one wire to one wire; for three or more, use a terminal block. The ring sizes are the stud they fit: #6, #8, and #10 are the common panel and power supply studs, #14 and M10 are for larger lugs and ground bars. The kit doesn't include a crimper; the Jonard TCC-1416 covers the red and blue sizes with its insulated nests, and the yellow 12 to 10 AWG terminals want a larger-framed insulated-terminal crimper.
