F-81 Inline Coupler, Female to Female, Nickel Plated, RG6 (CONAP-1001COU)

An RG6 run that comes up short, a patch cable that needs to meet another one, or a damaged end that's been cut back and re-terminated a few feet shy of where it needs to be: all of them need two male F connectors joined without pulling new cable. This inline coupler is an F-81 barrel, female F on both ends, nickel plated, with a center washer at the middle of the barrel so the wrench has something to hold while the cables are tightened on and the joint stays snug. Every coupler in a run is a joint, and a joint is a little loss and a place for water and corrosion to get in, so use one where it saves a re-pull, not three in a row where one longer cable would do; a run that's grown to several couplers is due for a single new cable. Hold the center washer with one 7/16 in wrench and snug each F connector with another, since a loose F connector is the usual cause of a weak or noisy signal and an over-tightened one strips the barrel; pliers do both. The washer also lets the barrel mount through a hole in a panel, a bulkhead, or a blank plate, which turns it into a feed-through. Keep it out of the weather or inside a sealed box, since a barrel coupler has no seal of its own; outdoors, use a weather boot or put the joint in the enclosure. An F-81 is a 75 Ω coupler, which is what every cable, satellite, and antenna feed is, and it passes the DC that a satellite receiver sends up to the dish. Support the cable on both sides so the coupler isn't carrying the weight or the bend.
