Rack Mount Fiber Patch Panel with Splice Trays, Slide-Out - 4U (RMFP-018)
Couldn't load pickup availability
When the feeder into a closet is 288 fibers, the splice point has to hold twelve trays and the patch field has to hold twelve adapter panels, and this 4U slide-out rack-mount fiber patch panel does both in one enclosure. The drawer pulls forward on its smooth gliding slides, so the twelve 24-fiber splice trays inside are in front of you with the panel still bolted to the rack, and the front takes twelve LGX adapter panels, sold separately, for up to 288 LC connections with LC quad panels loaded. The trays come in the box, each with 60 mm splice sleeves, along with two half-round cable routing spools for the slack, so the panel splices the same 288 fibers it patches and the pigtails run from tray to adapter without leaving the enclosure. It's powder-coated SPCC steel in black, 6.89 in tall, 19 in wide, and 10.75 in deep, the high-density distribution unit for a data center, a telecom facility, or a campus entrance. For 72 fibers in 1U, the RMFP-015; for 144 fibers in 2U, the RMFP-019.
What's in the Box
- 4U slide-out rack-mount fiber patch panel. Powder-coated SPCC steel enclosure with slide-out drawer and twelve LGX adapter panel slots.
- Twelve 24-fiber splice trays. With 60 mm splice sleeves, for up to 288 fusion splices.
- Two half-round cable routing spools. For managing fiber slack inside the drawer.
Features
- Up to 288 fibers, spliced and patched. Twelve 24-fiber splice trays included; twelve LGX adapter panel slots for up to 288 LC connections with LC quad panels.
- Smooth gliding pull-out drawer. Slides forward for installation and maintenance access to the trays in the rack.
- Splice trays with 60 mm sleeves. Integrated splice management, all twelve trays included.
- Twelve LGX adapter panel slots. Loads with the LGX panels for the connector type the job needs, sold separately.
- Half-round cable routing spools. Two included, for bend-radius-safe slack storage.
- Powder-coated SPCC steel. Durable finish in a 4U, 19 in rack-mount enclosure.
- Black finish. 6.89 × 19 × 10.75 in.
Where It Fits
It suits data center and telecom facility techs landing a 288-fiber trunk and splicing it to pigtails in four rack units, structured cabling installers building a main fiber entrance or a building distributor where the OSP cable gets spliced and patched in the same enclosure, campus and metro builds breaking a high-count feeder out to LC in one panel instead of four, carrier and ISP hub sites that want every splice tray reachable without unracking anything, anyone who has filled a 1U or 2U splice panel and had to add another beside it, and a rack that already has the LGX adapter panels, pigtails, and fiber patch cords from the fiber collections to fill it. For 72 fibers in 1U, the RMFP-015, or the RMFP-020 with trays sold separately; for 144 fibers and six LGX slots in 2U, the RMFP-019; for patching without splicing, an LGX patch panel.
Good to Know
The twelve splice trays are included and the adapter panels are not, so order the LGX panels for the connector type at the same time; 288 is the fiber count with LC quad panels loaded, and an SC or LC duplex panel loads fewer. Twelve trays and twelve panels in 4U is a lot of fiber in one drawer, so plan the routing before the first splice: assign each tray to a buffer tube, label the trays, route the pigtails on the half-round spools so every one stays within its bend radius, and stack the trays in the order the tubes come off the cable, since a packed drawer is where macrobend loss and a mislabeled fiber both show up. Mount it on the rack rails and check that the drawer slides freely before you load fiber, pull it out only as far as it travels, support the cable behind the rack so the entry doesn't take the weight when the drawer moves, and strain-relieve the trunk at the rear entry so the splices never carry tension; a 288-fiber cable is heavy, and the drawer should move the trays, not the cable. The 60 mm sleeves are the standard size for single-fusion splice protectors; a 40 mm or ribbon sleeve needs a different tray. It's an indoor rack panel; an OSP entrance wants the cable grounded and the armor bonded before it reaches the panel. Keep connector caps on unused adapters, since an open LC port in a splice panel collects dust from every tray that's worked on above it.
