A 72-fiber feeder into a closet needs a place to be spliced to pigtails and a place to be patched from, and a single rack unit can be both. This 1U rack-mount fiber patch panel is a splice-and-patch enclosure that slides out: the drawer pulls forward on its slides, so the three splice trays inside are in front of you with the panel still bolted to the rack, and the front takes three LGX adapter panels, sold separately, for up to 72 LC connections with LC quad panels loaded. The three 24-fiber splice trays are included, each with 60 mm splice sleeves, so the panel splices the same 72 fibers it patches, and the pigtails run from tray to adapter without leaving the enclosure. It's powder-coated SPCC steel in black, the standard 1U answer for a fiber distribution point in a data center, a telecom room, or a riser closet. For a 144-fiber distribution point, the RMFP-019 is the 2U version with six LGX slots and room for four trays.

Good to Know

The three splice trays are included and the adapter panels are not, so order the LGX panels for the connector type at the same time; 72 is the fiber count with LC quad panels loaded, and an SC or LC duplex panel loads fewer. Three trays and three LGX panels in a 1U is a full enclosure, so route the pigtails with care, keep every buffer tube and pigtail within its bend radius, and store slack in the drawer rather than forcing it, since a packed 1U is where macrobend loss shows up. Mount it on the rack rails and check that the drawer slides freely before you load fiber, pull it out only as far as it travels, support the cable behind the rack so the entry doesn't take the weight when the drawer moves, and strain-relieve the trunk at the rear entry so the splices never carry tension. The 60 mm sleeves are the standard size for single-fusion splice protectors; a 40 mm or ribbon sleeve needs a different tray. It's an indoor rack panel; an OSP entrance wants the cable grounded and the armor bonded before it reaches the panel. Keep connector caps on unused adapters, since an open LC port in a splice panel collects dust from every tray that's worked on above it.
