Rack Mount Fiber Patch Panel, Slide-Out - 4U (RMFP-017)
Couldn't load pickup availability
A 288-fiber entrance that gets spliced and patched in one place needs a 4U enclosure the technician can open without unracking it, and this slide-out fiber distribution panel is built that way: the master panel slides forward on its tray with an integrated tray stop, so it comes out as far as it should and no farther, and a removable two-piece top with swing door latches opens the whole enclosure from above once the tray is out. The front takes twelve LGX adapter panels, and the tray stores splice trays for up to 288 fusion splices with eight 36-fiber trays, so a high-count feeder can be spliced to pigtails and patched to LC, SC, or whatever the adapter panels carry, all inside one 16 gauge steel box. Universal 19 in rack mounting hardware and two cable routing spools are supplied. The adapter panels and the splice trays are sold separately, which lets the panel be loaded for the connector and fiber count the job needs, and it can be ordered fully terminated with cabling or pigtails. For the same 4U with twelve 24-fiber trays included, the RMFP-018; for 72 fibers in the same empty-enclosure format in 1U, the RMFP-020.
What's in the Box
- 4U slide-out fiber distribution panel. 16 gauge steel, black, with removable two-piece top, swing door latches, and twelve LGX adapter panel slots.
- Two cable management spools. For routing fiber slack inside the enclosure.
- Universal 19 in rack mounting hardware. One bag of installation hardware and cable management accessories.
Features
- Twelve LGX adapter panel slots. Loads with the LGX panels for the connector type and count the job needs, sold separately.
- Up to 288 splices. Slide-out tray designed to store splice trays; fits eight 36-fiber splice trays, model FTSA-3001, sold separately.
- Slide-out master panel with tray stop. Pulls forward for installation and maintenance in the rack; the integrated stop keeps it from over-extending.
- Removable two-piece top and swing door latches. Top-down access to the adapter panels and the trays with the panel racked.
- Universal 19 in mounting hardware supplied. With two cable management spools.
- Can be ordered terminated. Available fully terminated with cabling or pigtails on request.
- 16 gauge steel, black. 4U, 19 in rack mount.
Where It Fits
It suits data center and telecom room techs landing a 288-fiber trunk and splicing it to pigtails in four rack units, structured cabling installers building a main fiber entrance or a building distributor where the OSP cable gets spliced and patched in the same enclosure, campus and metro builds breaking a high-count feeder out to LC or SC in one panel instead of four, carrier and ISP hub sites that want every splice tray reachable from the top without unracking anything, anyone who wants to choose the splice tray and the fiber count rather than take the trays the panel came with, and a rack that already has the LGX adapter panels, splice trays, pigtails, and fiber patch cords from the fiber collections to fill it. For a 4U with twelve 24-fiber splice trays included, the RMFP-018; for the same empty-enclosure format in 1U, the RMFP-020; for 1U and 2U with trays included, the RMFP-015 and RMFP-019.
Good to Know
The adapter panels and the splice trays are not included, so order the twelve LGX panels for the connector type and the FTSA-3001 36-fiber splice trays at the same time; 288 is the splice count with all eight trays loaded, and a smaller feeder needs fewer trays, while the patch count depends on the panels, with twelve LC quad panels giving 288 LC positions and SC or LC duplex panels giving fewer. Mount it on the rack rails with the supplied hardware and check that the tray slides freely to its stop before you load fiber, then support the cable behind the rack so the rear entry doesn't take the weight when the tray moves, and strain-relieve the trunk at the entry so the splices never carry tension; a 288-fiber cable is heavy, and the tray should move the splice trays, not the cable. Eight trays and twelve panels is a lot of fiber in one enclosure, so plan the routing before the first splice: assign each tray to a buffer tube, label the trays, keep every buffer tube and pigtail within its bend radius on the spools, and stack the trays in the order the tubes come off the cable. Bond the panel, and the armor or strength member of an OSP cable, to the rack ground before the cable reaches the trays. The two-piece top comes off for the build; put it back and latch it when you're done, and keep caps on unused adapters, since an open port in a splice panel collects dust from every tray worked on above it. It's an indoor rack panel.
