Plenum Rated High Speed HDMI 1.4 Cable - 25 ft, 35 ft, 50 ft & 75 ft

An HDMI run through a drop ceiling that's used as an air return needs a plenum-rated cable, and most HDMI cables aren't. This High Speed HDMI 1.4 cable is: a 24 AWG stranded bare copper cable with foam FEP insulation and a PVC alloy jacket, ETL verified to CMP, so it can run through the ceiling, the wall, and the HVAC plenum between a rack and a projector without a conduit. It's a male-to-male cable with gold-plated connectors, triple-layer shielding with a Mylar and aluminum foil inner shield, an 80% tinned copper braid, and a drain wire, and it comes in 25, 35, 50, and 75 ft, with the resolution it carries set by the length: 4K × 2K at 30 Hz at 25 ft and at 75 ft, where a built-in repeater carries the signal the extra distance, and 1080p at 60 Hz at 35 and 50 ft. Good to Know

Pick the length by the resolution as well as the distance: the 25 and 75 ft cables carry 4K × 2K at 30 Hz, the 35 and 50 ft cables are 1080p at 60 Hz, and none of them carry 4K at 60 Hz, which is an HDMI 2.0 rate and wants the HDMI01 or a fiber cable. The 75 ft cable has a repeater built into it, which draws its power from the HDMI port and is what gets the signal across the extra distance; it also means that length is built with a source end and a display end, so check the markings before it goes into the ceiling. At 10.5 mm this is a thick, stiff cable with a braid and a drain wire, so give it a generous bend radius, plan the pull through the ceiling and the wall box accordingly, and support a long run so the connector doesn't carry the cable's weight at the back of a wall-mounted display or a ceiling-hung projector. The CMP rating is on the jacket; if a wall plate or a coupler is in the path, the plenum run ends at the plate and the rest of the run can be an ordinary cable. 8-bit color is what it carries; a source set to 10- or 12-bit output will fall back or show nothing.
