This is an oversize snagless strain relief boot for an RJ45 plug on thick cable: solid, stranded, or shielded round Cat6, Cat6A, and Cat7 with a jacket up to 8.0 mm, which won't go through a standard boot. It slides onto the cable before the plug is crimped, then pushes forward and clips into the back of the plug, where it covers the latch so the plug doesn't snag in a rack, a panel, or a conduit, takes the strain off the crimp when the cord is tugged, and holds the cable in a gentle curve behind the plug instead of letting it kink. It's clear, and it comes 25 to a pack. Good to Know

The boot goes on the cable before the plug, every time; there's no putting it on afterward. Slide it on narrow end toward the plug, do the shield wrap and the crimp, then push the boot forward until it clips into the back of the plug and the latch cover sits above the latch. Measure the cable first: the boot takes a jacket up to 8.0 mm, so a thicker one won't go, and a standard 6 mm Cat6 cable will rattle in it and give no strain relief, which is what the BOT-R45-68 is for; between this boot, the 7.5 mm BOT-OVR-75, and the 6.8 mm BOT-R45-68, one of the three will fit snugly, and a sample measured with calipers settles it. On a shielded plug, check that the boot clips over the shell and any ground tab before you crimp a whole batch, since an oversize boot has to seat over the metal, not just the plastic, and do the shield fold neatly so the boot has a round jacket to close on. The latch cover makes the plug snagless but also means the latch is pressed through the boot, which is stiffer in the cold. Clear is the only color, so if the rack has a color code, the code goes on a label or the cable jacket.
