SC/PC Simplex Fiber Adapter, OM3/OM4 Multimode, Aqua, Ceramic Sleeve, Flanged (FO4-SCP-S)

This is a simplex SC/PC fiber adapter for 10 Gigabit multimode, the aqua coupler that joins two SC connectors end to end through a panel on an OM3 or OM4 plant. It's a plastic housing with integrated flanges and a snap-in body in the standard SC simplex footprint, so it drops into the SC cutout on any patch panel, LGX plate, fiber distribution unit, or wall-mount enclosure without tools. The port has a ceramic alignment sleeve, and the housing is aqua, which is the color code for laser-optimized 50/125 µm multimode, the fiber behind 10GBASE-SR, 40GBASE-SR4, and 100GBASE-SR4 links. It takes SC/PC multimode connectors. It comes with dust caps, it's RoHS compliant, and it's sold individually. Where It Fits

It suits a data center or a telecom room where an OM3 or OM4 backbone is spliced to SC pigtails in the tray behind a panel and the as-built wants every port on the plate to say 10 Gigabit by its color. It suits a building that is upgrading an older multimode plant to OM3 or OM4 on SC, so the new strands come out on aqua ports and the old ones stay beige. Installers loading a blank LGX plate or a fiber distribution unit port by port on a 10 Gigabit plant use it, and so do techs replacing a beige adapter with an aqua one as a panel moves to OM3. A SAN or a server row on SC media converters is a candidate. It goes with the OM3 and OM4 SC patch cords from the fiber patch cable collection, with the multimode SC pigtails, adapter plates, and keystones from the fiber panel collection, and with the rack-mount and wall-mount enclosures. Good to Know

Aqua is a label, not a filter: the adapter will mate whatever SC connector goes into it, including an orange 62.5 µm OM1 cord, with the core mismatch loss landing at the panel, so the color's job is to tell the next tech that the fiber behind this port is OM3 or OM4 and the cord in front of it should be too. For an OM1 plant or a Gigabit plant on any grade, the beige FOM-SCP-S is the honest choice, and beige is what an OM1 panel is expected to be. The sleeves are ceramic, which also holds a single-mode ferrule to tolerance, but a mixed panel invites a wrong patch, so keep single-mode on the blue FOS-SCU-S and multimode on aqua or beige. It's PC, with a flat end-face, for the SC connector on every multimode cord and pigtail; a green SC/APC connector has an 8° angle and doesn't mate with it, and APC isn't used on multimode in any case. The adapter doesn't set the reach, the fiber does: OM3 carries 10GBASE-SR to 300 meters and OM4 to 400 meters, and each mated pair adds loss the budget has to carry, so keep the connectors clean. Simplex or duplex is the choice: this adapter holds one fiber, which suits single-fiber circuits or a panel where the pairing changes, while a duplex adapter keeps a transmit-and-receive pair side by side and keeps polarity for you; if two of these make a pair, label them. The snap-in flanges are what hold it in a stamped cutout, so check that the panel takes a flanged SC adapter before you order a quantity. Clean and inspect every ferrule before it goes in, and leave the dust caps in any port without a cord. Don't look into an open port on a live link.
