This is a duplex LC/PC fiber adapter for multimode, the beige coupler that joins two pairs of LC connectors end to end through a panel, with the transmit and receive fibers side by side. It's a plastic housing with integrated flanges and a snap-fit body in the SC simplex footprint, so it drops into the same cutout as a simplex SC adapter and gives two LC ports in that space. Each port has a ceramic alignment sleeve, and the housing is beige, which is the color code for multimode. It takes LC/PC connectors on multimode fiber. Where It Fits

It suits a campus or a building backbone on 62.5 µm OM1 or 50 µm multimode, where a cable is spliced to LC pigtails in the tray behind a panel and the plate has SC simplex cutouts, so each one goes from one SC port to two LC ports without a new plate. It suits a plastic fiber distribution unit or a wall-mount enclosure where the switches are on LC and the box was stamped for SC. Installers loading a blank LGX plate or an FDU port by port use it, and so do techs converting an old SC simplex panel to LC as the gear changes, or replacing a cracked adapter in an existing LC panel. A school or a hospital moving an OM1 plant onto LC switches is a candidate. It goes with the multimode LC patch cords from the fiber patch cable collection, with the LC pigtails, adapter plates, and keystones from the fiber panel collection, and with the rack-mount and wall-mount enclosures. Good to Know

The adapter doesn't care which multimode grade is on either side, which means it will happily mate an orange 62.5 µm OM1 cord to an aqua 50 µm OM3 pigtail, with the core mismatch loss landing at the adapter; keep the cords, the pigtails, and the plant all one grade, and let the jacket color be the cue. Beige is the multimode color, and the sleeves are ceramic, which also holds a single-mode ferrule to tolerance, but a mixed panel invites a wrong patch, so keep single-mode on the blue FOS-LC-D and multimode on beige. It's PC, with a flat end-face, for the beige or aqua LC connector on every SFP, SFP+, and multimode cord; a green LC/APC connector has an 8° angle and doesn't mate with it. Flanged or flangeless is the choice between this adapter and the FOM-LCP-D: this one has mounting ears with screw holes and snaps into the larger SC simplex cutout, while the flangeless one is held by clips through a cutout sized for its body, and neither stays in the other's plate, so match the adapter to the panel before you order a quantity. The metal clips in the box are for plates that take a clip rather than a flange. Keep the A and B fibers in the right positions on both sides so the duplex polarity comes out as the as-built says. Clean and inspect every ferrule before it goes in, and cap any port without a cord. Don't look into an open port on a live link.
