This is a uniboot LC cord on OM4 fiber, both fibers in one round 2.0 mm jacket with a single boot at each end, with one extra trick: the polarity can be flipped in the field. On a standard duplex cord, if transmit lands on transmit at the far end, you have to pull the cord and swap it for one wired the other way, or put a crossover adapter in the path. On this cord you separate the two connector halves at the boot, swap their positions, and clip them back together, in a few seconds and without tools. In a rack where the panels were wired by someone else and the labels are long gone, that's a real time saver.

It's laser-optimized OM4 multimode, 50/125 µm, the fiber to buy for anything new, with LC connectors on both ends and extended push-pull tabs so the cord can be pulled from a dense line card without a fingernail on the latch or a hand on the ferrule. Each cord is tested and the end-faces are checked by interferometer before it ships.

Where It Fits

It suits high-density switch line cards and patch panels where a standard zipcord won't fit cleanly, top-of-rack to spine and leaf links at 10G and 25G, 40G and 100G BiDi and SWDM links inside a data hall, blade chassis, SAN, and storage connections, cross-connects in a fiber distribution frame where the far-end polarity isn't known until the link comes up, cold-aisle racks where airflow across the switch face matters, and any multimode link between two LC ports on a 50 µm plant where a smaller cord and a quick polarity fix make the rack easier to manage.

Good to Know

Match the fiber, not just the connectors. OM4 and OM3 are both 50 µm and mix freely at the distances a patch cord covers, though a link is only as good as its weakest fiber, so an OM4 cord on an OM3 backbone gets OM3 distances. OM1 is 62.5 µm and doesn't mix; on an orange 62.5 µm plant use an OM1 cord instead. To reverse polarity, pull the connector out of the port first, then separate and swap the two halves at the boot; never do it in the port. 40G and 100G over a duplex LC cord means BiDi or SWDM transceivers; standard 40GBASE-SR4 and 100GBASE-SR4 use MPO cords, not this one. Use multimode SR transceivers; a single-mode LR module won't light a multimode link reliably. Keep dust caps on until the moment you plug in, and clean both the connector and the port with a 1.25 mm one-click cleaner before mating. The round jacket is easy on bend radius, but keep it above about 30 mm under load and don't cinch ties down tight on it. If you need a length that isn't listed, the standard LC to LC OM4 cord covers 0.5 to 50 m and the OM4 uniboot covers 1 to 20 m.
