LC to SC Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable - 10G Multimode OM4 50/125μm

An SC patch panel doesn't have to hold a backbone back. If the fiber behind it is OM4, or you're pulling new OM4 to an SC-terminated frame, the link can run 10 Gigabit to 400 m and 25 Gigabit to 100 m, and this is the cord that connects it to the switch. It has a pair of LC connectors on one end for the SFP+ or SFP28 and a pair of SC connectors on the other for the panel or port, on laser-optimized OM4 fiber, so the connector on the panel and the fiber grade in the wall both get their full reach.

It's a duplex zipcord, two 50/125 µm fibers in a 1.8 × 3.7 mm jacket, in lengths from 1 m to 50 m. Each cord is tested and the end-faces are checked by interferometer before it ships.

Where It Fits

It suits connecting a switch or SFP+ to an SC patch panel on an OM4 backbone, new OM4 pulls terminated on SC at the frame and LC at the electronics, upgrading an SC-terminated 50 µm building backbone to 10 or 25 Gigabit, linking media converters and older switches with SC ports to LC equipment, and any multimode link between an LC port and an SC port on a 50 µm plant, from a rack jumper to a 50 m run.

Good to Know

Match the fiber, not just the connectors. OM4 and OM3 are both 50 µm and mix freely at the distances a patch cord covers, though a link is only as good as its weakest fiber, so an OM4 cord on an OM3 backbone gets OM3 distances, and on an older OM2 backbone 10GBASE-SR reaches only 82 m. OM1 is 62.5 µm and doesn't mix; on an orange 62.5 µm plant use the LC to SC OM1 cord instead. Use multimode SR transceivers; a single-mode LR module won't light a multimode link reliably. Keep dust caps on until the moment you plug in, and clean both the connector and the port with a one-click cleaner before mating, 1.25 mm for the LC end and 2.5 mm for the SC end. If both ends of your link are LC, look at the LC to LC OM4 cord, and if the plant is OM3 and you'd rather match it, the LC to SC OM3 cord.
