This FTTH wall-mount fiber distribution unit is that box: a compact off-white plastic enclosure, 8.3 in tall by 6.9 in wide and 2 in deep, with room for up to 12 splices and a front plate that holds 8 adapters or couplers in the SC simplex footprint, which means 8 SC simplex adapters or 8 LC duplex adapters. It mounts on the wall, takes outdoor cable in and indoor soft cable out, and opens on a sliding shackle for access to the splices and the adapters. The maximum capacity is 12 fibers. Adapters are sold separately, so the unit is built for the connector the drop uses. Made in the USA.

Where It Fits

It suits FTTH and FTTP installers terminating a fiber drop at the subscriber's wall and handing off to an indoor patch cord, FTTB and MDU builds that need a small distribution point per floor or per unit, campus and small-building networks bringing a few fibers in where a rack panel would be overkill, small business and home office installs where the ONT sits next to the demarc, anyone who has spliced a drop in a loose coil behind a wall plate and regretted it, and a job that already has the SC or LC adapters, the pigtails, and the fiber patch cords from the fiber collections to fill it. Good to Know

Adapters are not included, so order the SC simplex or LC duplex adapters for the connector the drop uses at the same time; the eight positions are SC simplex footprint, which is why LC duplex fits them, and the box's capacity is 12 fibers either way, so plan the adapter count around the splices rather than the other way round. The sheet says it takes outdoor cable, not that it mounts outdoors; treat it as an indoor or sheltered box unless the supplier gives it a weather rating, and bring the outdoor drop in through a drip loop. Route the drop in with its strain relief at the entry so the splices never carry tension, keep the buffer tube and the pigtails within their bend radius inside a box that's only 2 in deep, and store the slack along the tray's path rather than coiling it tight. Splice the drop to a pigtail and land the pigtail on the back of the adapter; the indoor patch cord to the ONT plugs into the front. Close the shackle when you're done, since an open box collects dust on the ferrules, and keep a cap on any adapter without a cord in it. It's a plastic enclosure; mount it with screws suited to the wall and a washer under the head, and keep it out of reach of anything that will knock it.
