Fiber work means handling glass and parts that are too small to grip with your fingers, and a sharp-edged tweezer tip can scratch what it holds. The Jonard Tools FTW-5 is a 5 in stainless steel tweezer made for that work: the fine point has rounded edges, so it gets a secure hold on a bare fiber, a splice sleeve, or a small electronic component without nicking or crushing it, and the slim neck reaches into a splice tray, a connector housing, or a crowded board where fingers won't fit. The steel is non-magnetic, so it won't pick up stray parts or disturb a sensitive circuit, and the tweezers are small and light enough to live in a shirt pocket. Backed by a lifetime warranty.
Features
- Fine point with rounded edges. Handles fiber optic cable, electrical wire, and delicate components without damaging them.
- Slim neck. Reaches into tight spaces: splice trays, connector bodies, enclosures, and circuit boards.
- Non-magnetic stainless steel. Strong and durable, and safe around sensitive electronics.
- Pocketable. Small and light enough to carry everywhere, so they're there when the fiber slips.
- Lifetime warranty.
Where It Fits
It suits fusion splicing technicians placing fibers in a splice tray and seating splice sleeves, installers loading fibers into a field connector or a mechanical splice, anyone cleaning up a splice closure or an enclosure where a loose fiber has to be moved without being touched, electricians and electronics technicians handling fine wire and small components, and a bench or a van that needs a tweezer that won't scratch the thing it's holding.
Good to Know
Hold a bare fiber by the coating or the buffer when you can, and by the glass only when you must; the rounded tips are what make the glass grip safe, but a bare 125 µm fiber is still easiest to break at the point where it's held. Grip with the tip, not the shank, since the point is where the edges are rounded. The tweezers are non-magnetic, which matters for two reasons: they won't collect stray screws and clips from a bag, and they won't disturb a magnetically sensitive component on a board. Keep them clean; a tip that's picked up alcohol residue or coating dust will transfer it to the next fiber it holds, and a quick wipe with a fiber wipe before a splice costs nothing. Stainless resists corrosion but isn't immune to it, so dry them after a wet day. They're tweezers, not pliers; if a part needs force to seat, this isn't the tool. A sleeve or a cap for the tip is worth adding if they ride loose in a pocket with keys.
