In a fully loaded LC panel there's no room for fingers, and the Jonard Tools FCT-200 is the tool that gets a connector in or out without disturbing its neighbors. Its thin-nose jaws reach a simplex LC connector in a tightly packed bulkhead, grip it firmly through rubber-protected jaw faces, and pull it or seat it straight, without damaging the connector you're holding or the ones on either side. The same jaws work on SC simplex and MU connectors and others of similar shape. A spring-loaded handle opens the jaws after every grip, and the ergonomic grip keeps the tool comfortable and under control through a long re-patching session at a dense panel.

Good to Know

Grip the connector body, not the boot and not the latch: pulling by the boot stresses the fiber at the strain relief, and the LC latch has to be pressed to release, which the tool does when the jaws close on the body and the latch together. Pull straight out along the axis of the port; a connector levered sideways in a dense panel is how the next one over gets unseated or its latch gets broken. When inserting, push until the latch clicks and then release the jaws before you let go, so the tool doesn't drag the connector back out. The rubber faces are what make the grip safe, so keep them clean of alcohol and gel, and replace the tool if they harden or tear. The tool handles LC and SC simplex and MU; a duplex LC clip usually has to come off first, since the jaws are sized for one connector body, and MPO connectors are a different shape and a different tool. Clean the end face after every removal and before every insertion, since a connector that's been out of a port has been exposed, and never look into a port or a connector on a live link.
