The coax from the cable company, the dish, or the antenna comes out of the wall somewhere, and a keystone plate with an F-81 in it is the clean way to end it. This coax keystone insert is a nickel-plated F-81 coupler, female F on both sides, in a snap-in keystone housing: the RG6, RG59, or RG11 from the attic, the basement, or the riser screws onto the back, the TV's or the modem's cable screws onto the front, and the plate looks like every other outlet in the room. The RG11 fit is what sets it apart from the standard insert, since the heavier F connector on a long trunk or a building feed seats on this coupler where a lighter one wouldn't. It's the module for a cable TV, satellite, antenna, or cable modem outlet, for a CCTV camera feed, and for the coax port on a multi-port plate beside the Ethernet jacks, in white or ivory to match the plate and the room. For RG59 and RG6 only, in white, ivory, or almond, the KEYCAE.

Good to Know

This is a coupler, not a termination: the cable behind the wall needs its own F connector on it, so the compression connector and the tool for the cable go on the order with the insert, and the plate is sold separately. An RG11 F connector is bigger and heavier than an RG6 one, so give the back of the plate the room it needs and leave a service loop so the stiff cable isn't pulling on the coupler; RG11 doesn't bend behind a single-gang box the way RG6 does, and a keystone patch panel or a surface box is often the better home for it. An F-81 is a 75 Ω coupler, which is what every cable, satellite, and antenna feed is; tighten both F connectors with a 7/16 in wrench to snug, not with pliers, since a loose F connector is the usual cause of a weak or noisy signal, and don't over-torque the back nut, which can turn the barrel in the housing. Keep the bend radius generous on every cable, since kinked coax behind a plate is a return-loss problem that's hard to find later. The two colors are meant to match the keystone wall plate; order the insert and the plate in the same color. For a satellite feed that carries power to a dish or an LNB, the nickel-plated barrel passes it, but check the receiver's manual for its own requirements.
