CAT5E RJ45 Shielded EZ Pass-Through Connector – for Cable OD Under 6.60mm (PLG-EZ45-C5ES)

This is a shielded pass-through RJ45 plug for Cat5e cable. It fits solid or stranded cable with a jacket under 6.60 mm and conductors insulated up to 1.04 mm. The eight conductors go in the back of the plug and out the front, so you check the color order by eye before the crimp tool trims them flush and closes the contacts. It's the patented EZ-RJ45 design in its shielded form: one clear piece, no bars or liners, fully shielded, with an internal ground, so the shell bonds to the cable's shield inside the plug and there's no external tab. Because the plug pulls down over the jacket and seats against it, each pair's twist runs closer to the contacts than in a conventional plug, which is what keeps crosstalk down at the termination; the shield adds immunity to outside noise, which matters most above 30 MHz where cable balance starts to fall off. It's UL rated, FCC and RoHS compliant, compatible with Cat3, Cat5, Cat5e, and Cat6 networks, and it comes in packs of 50 and 100. Good to Know

A pass-through plug needs a pass-through crimp tool, the kind with a blade at the front of the die that shears the conductors flush with the plug face as it crimps. A standard RJ45 tool closes the contacts but leaves the ends sticking out, where they short against each other or the jack's shield. Check the face after every crimp and make sure no copper stands proud. Measure the cable before ordering: this plug is for conductors insulated to 1.04 mm or less and a jacket under 6.60 mm, which covers most shielded Cat5e; a shielded Cat6 jacket usually runs over that and wants the PLG-EZ45-C6S. A shielded plug only shields if the shell is bonded to the cable's shield and the jack at the other end is shielded too, so fold the foil or braid back over the jacket where the shell lands, make sure the drain wire is under it, and use shielded jacks and patch panels throughout; one unshielded link in the chain turns the shield into an antenna. With an internal ground there's no tab to inspect, so make the fold neat and check continuity from shell to shell with a tester on the first few cords. Bond the shield at one end only unless the two ends share a ground. Strip the jacket, untwist only as much as it takes to lay the eight conductors flat in T568B order, feed them through until the jacket is inside the plug's rear, confirm the order on the far side, then crimp. The boot goes on the cable before the plug, not after.
