EZ-RJ45 Pass-Through Cat5e Plug, Solid or Stranded, Cable OD to 6.09 mm, Packs of 50/100/500 (PLG-EZ45-C5U)

This is a pass-through RJ45 plug for solid or stranded Cat5e cable with a jacket up to 6.09 mm. The eight conductors go in the back of the plug and out the front, so you check the color order by eye before the crimp tool trims them flush and closes the contacts. It's the patented EZ-RJ45 design: one clear polycarbonate piece, no load bar, no insert, no liner, with 50 µin gold-plated contacts for 23 and 24 AWG conductors insulated up to 0.040 in (1.016 mm). Because the plug pulls down over the jacket and seats against it, the untwisted length between the last twist and the contacts is as short as it can be, which keeps crosstalk down at the plug. It meets Cat5e performance per ANSI/TIA-568-B.2, it's UL listed, FCC compliant, and RoHS, and it comes in packs of 50, 100, and 500. Good to Know

A pass-through plug needs a pass-through crimp tool, the kind with a blade at the front of the die that shears the conductors flush with the plug face as it crimps. A standard RJ45 tool closes the contacts but leaves the ends sticking out, where they short against each other or the jack. Check the face after every crimp and make sure no copper stands proud. Measure the cable before ordering: this plug is for 23 and 24 AWG conductors insulated to 1.016 mm or less and a jacket up to 6.09 mm, which covers most Cat5e patch and bulk cable; a Cat6 jacket usually runs over 6.09 mm and wants the PLG-EZ45-C6U, and 28 AWG slim cable is too thin to hold. Strip the jacket, untwist only as much as it takes to lay the eight conductors flat in T568B order, feed them through until the jacket is inside the plug's rear, confirm the order on the far side, then crimp; the plug seating on the jacket is what gives it strain relief and keeps the untwist short, so don't strip long and leave bare pairs behind the plug. The boot goes on the cable before the plug, not after. The housing has no shield shell, so this is for unshielded cable; shielded cable needs a shielded pass-through plug. Pack of 500 is the one for a crew that terminates all day.
