CAT6/CAT6A RJ45 Shielded ezEX44 Connector – Pass-Through with Internal Ground (PLG-EZ45-C6-SHI)

This is a shielded pass-through RJ45 plug for Cat6 and Cat6A cable with larger conductors. It fits shielded solid or stranded 22 to 24 AWG cable with conductors insulated to 0.039 to 0.044 in (1.0 to 1.12 mm) and a jacket under 7.1 mm. The eight conductors go in the back of the plug and out the front, so you check the color order by eye before the crimp tool trims them flush and closes the contacts. The channels are staggered high and low, so the larger conductors each sit in their own slot. It's the ezEX44 design in its shielded form: one clear piece, no bars or liners, with a shield shell that bonds to the cable's shield inside the plug, so there's no external tab. It's rated for 10 Gigabit performance, it's RoHS 2, UL, TIA, TAA, and FCC compliant, it's made in the USA, and it comes in packs of 25, 50, and 100. Good to Know

A pass-through plug needs a pass-through crimp tool, the kind with a blade at the front of the die that shears the conductors flush with the plug face as it crimps. A standard RJ45 tool closes the contacts but leaves the ends sticking out, where they short against each other or the jack's shield. Check the face after every crimp and make sure no copper stands proud. Measure the conductor and the jacket before ordering: this plug is for 22 to 24 AWG conductors insulated to 1.0 to 1.12 mm under a jacket below 7.1 mm; a conductor under 1.0 mm sits loose in the staggered channels and wants the PLG-EZ45-C6S, and a thick-jacketed Cat6A over 7.1 mm wants the PLG-R45-CT6AS crimp plug, which takes 8.0 mm. A shielded plug only shields if the shell is bonded to the cable's shield and the jack at the other end is shielded too, so fold the foil or braid back over the jacket where the shell lands, make sure the drain wire is under it, and use shielded jacks and patch panels throughout; one unshielded link in the chain turns the shield into an antenna. Bond the shield at one end only unless the two ends share a ground. Strip the jacket, untwist only as much as it takes to lay the eight conductors flat in T568B order, feed them through the staggered channels until the jacket seats in the rear of the plug, confirm the order on the far side, then crimp. Staggered channels mean the conductors alternate high and low as they go in; if one won't start, it's in the wrong row, not too thick. The boot goes on the cable before the plug, not after.
