CAT6 RJ45 ezEX38 Connector – Staggered Pass-Through with PoE+ (PLG-EZ45-C6-POE)

This is a pass-through RJ45 plug for Cat5e and Cat6 cable with smaller conductors and a thick jacket. It fits solid or stranded 22 to 24 AWG cable whose conductors are insulated to 0.033 to 0.038 in (0.84 to 0.97 mm), under a jacket up to 0.290 in (7.36 mm). The eight conductors go in the back of the plug and out the front, so you check the color order by eye before the crimp tool trims them flush and closes the contacts. The channels are staggered high and low, so each conductor sits isolated in its own slot. It's the ezEX38 design: one clear piece, 8P8C, with 50 µin gold-plated contacts, and it's PoE and PoE+ capable. It's RoHS, UL, TIA, TAA, and FCC compliant, and it comes in packs of 50 and 100. For Cat6 with conductors up to 1.04 mm, the PLG-EZ45-C6U; for large-conductor Cat6A at 1.0 to 1.12 mm, the PLG-EZ45-C64-POE.

Good to Know

A pass-through plug needs a pass-through crimp tool, the kind with a blade at the front of the die that shears the conductors flush with the plug face as it crimps. A standard RJ45 tool closes the contacts but leaves the ends sticking out, where they short against each other or the jack. Check the face after every crimp and make sure no copper stands proud. Measure the conductor, not just the jacket, before ordering: this plug's channels are sized for insulation of 0.84 to 0.97 mm, which is thinner than most 23 AWG Cat6, so a conductor over 0.97 mm won't feed through and wants the PLG-EZ45-C6U or, above 1.0 mm, the PLG-EZ45-C64-POE. The jacket limit is generous at 7.36 mm, which is why this plug suits thick-jacketed cable with small conductors. Strip the jacket, untwist only as much as it takes to lay the eight conductors flat in T568B order, feed them through the staggered channels until the jacket seats in the rear of the plug, confirm the order on the far side, then crimp. Staggered channels mean the conductors alternate high and low as they go in; if one won't start, it's in the wrong row, not too thick. The boot goes on the cable before the plug, not after. The housing has no shield shell, so this is for unshielded cable; shielded cable needs a shielded plug so the drain wire has somewhere to go. On PoE+ runs, keep the bundle loose and don't unplug under load, since the arc on break lands on the contacts.
