A copper HDMI cable runs out of bandwidth long before it runs out of length, and at 48 Gbps the runs that work are short ones. This eARC fiber optic HDMI 2.1 cable carries the full 48 Gbps over fiber instead, so an 8K source can sit 35, 45, 60, or 75 ft from the display with no repeater, no signal amplifier, and no external power supply, with the copper conductors inside the same 4.8 mm jacket handling the eARC, HEAC, HDCP, and control lines. It supports 8K up to 120 Hz and 8K, 4K, and 2K at 60 Hz, passes HDR, and is backward compatible with every earlier HDMI version. The connectors are directional, marked for the source and the display, and gold-plated. The jacket is LSZH, rated plenum/CMP, so the cable can go through a ceiling or an air-handling space between the rack and the screen. It's the long-run cable for a home theater, a conference room, a classroom, or a digital signage display that an HDMI 2.0 copper cable can't reach at full resolution.

Features

  • 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. The full HDMI 2.1 data rate over fiber, backward compatible with all previous HDMI versions.
  • 8K up to 120 Hz. 8K, 4K, and 2K at 60 Hz.
  • eARC, HEAC, HDR, and HDCP. Lossless audio return and copy protection pass through on the copper conductors.
  • No repeaters, no external power. Built for 30 to 75 ft runs with no signal amplifier or power supply at either end.
  • Directional connectors. Source end for the DVR, computer, laptop, or game console; display end for the HDTV or monitor. Gold-plated copper connectors.
  • 4.8 mm LSZH jacket, plenum/CMP rated. Bare copper conductors with aluminum Mylar shielding inside a thin, low-smoke jacket.

Where It Fits

It suits home theater installers putting an 8K or 4K/120 source in a rack or a closet 35 to 75 ft from the projector or the wall-mounted display, AV integrators running HDMI 2.1 through a plenum ceiling to a conference room or classroom display without an extender pair, gamers who want a console or a PC across the room from the screen at full refresh rate, digital signage and retail installs with the player out of sight, anyone who has fought a long copper HDMI cable that sparkled, dropped out, or fell back to 4K/30, and a job that already has the wall plates, the rack, and the HDMI keystone couplers from the AV collections. For runs under 30 ft, a copper HDMI 2.1 cable does the job for less.

Good to Know

The cable is directional: the end marked for the source goes into the player, console, or computer and the end marked for the display goes into the TV, monitor, or projector, and it will not pass a signal plugged in backward, so check the labels before you pull it through a wall. It's an active optical cable, which means the electronics in the connectors draw their power from the HDMI port, so no wall adapter is needed, but it also means the connectors can't be cut off and re-terminated and the cable can't be shortened; order the length the run needs with a little slack, not the length that's left over. There's glass inside the 4.8 mm jacket, so pull it by a pull sock or tape over the connector rather than by the connector itself, don't kink it, don't staple it, and keep the bend radius generous at the back of the display and in the wall box. HDMI 2.1 features like VRR, ALLM, and 4K/120 depend on the source and the display, not on the cable; the cable passes whatever the two ends negotiate up to 48 Gbps. The plenum/CMP rating is what lets it run above a drop ceiling; the LSZH jacket is the low-smoke, halogen-free part, which is what you want in an enclosed room. It's an indoor cable.
