A fiber entrance on a wall in a shared closet needs to be locked, and it needs to splice and patch without a rack. This double-door wall-mount fiber patch panel does both: a black textured steel enclosure, 14.96 in tall by 15.75 in wide and 2.76 in deep, with a double steel door design and an integrated locking latch, two adapter panel positions on the patch side, and one FTSA-2006 splice tray included with cable management inside. It's sized for 12 fiber strands, with a maximum of 24, so a 12-fiber backbone can be spliced to pigtails on the tray and patched from the adapter panels in one box, and a 24-fiber cable fits when the count calls for it. Zip ties, cable routing clamps, mounting screws, fiber splice sleeves, and installation instructions are in the box; the adapter panels and the pigtails are sold separately, so the panel is built for the connector the job uses. For a larger wall enclosure, the WMFP-006 blank steel box for 12 splices; for a rack, the RMFP-015 and RMFP-020 slide-out panels.

Good to Know

The splice tray is included and the adapter panels and pigtails are not, so order the two adapter panels for the connector type and the pigtails at the same time, and match the panel port count to the fiber count rather than the other way round. Twelve fibers is the recommended load and 24 is the maximum: the single tray and the 2.76 in depth are comfortable at 12, and a 24-fiber cable fills the tray and the routing, so at 24 plan the slack carefully and keep every buffer tube and pigtail within its bend radius. Use the included routing clamps and ties to dress the fiber without cinching anything tight on a buffer tube, and strain-relieve the cable at the entry so the splices never carry tension. Mount it with screws suited to the wall, since a steel box with cable in it is heavy for drywall anchors, and bond the steel to the building ground if the cable has armor or a metallic strength member. It's an indoor enclosure. Keep both doors latched and locked when you're done, keep caps on unused adapters, and keep the key somewhere the next technician can find it.
