CAT8 40G Ethernet Patch Cable - S/FTP

Cat8 is the fastest copper patch cord there is. It's rated to 2000 MHz, four times Cat6A, and carries 25GBase-T and 40GBase-T over a 30-meter channel, which is exactly the distance you need for a switch-to-server or rack-to-rack link and no further. Each of the four pairs is wrapped in its own foil and a braid surrounds all four (S/FTP), because at these frequencies shielding isn't optional. Shielded metal RJ45 plugs at both ends carry the shield through to the jack.

The 24 AWG stranded copper conductors keep it as flexible as a cable this heavily shielded can be, at 8.0 mm. It meets Category 8 and works with Cat6A, Cat6, and Cat5e equipment at those speeds.

Features

• 24 AWG stranded bare copper. Full-gauge conductors with no copper-clad aluminum, and the stranding keeps it as flexible as possible.
• Molded snagless strain-relief boot. It protects the latch when you pull cable through a bundle.
• PVC jacket. The cable is UL Listed, ETL Verified, and RoHS compliant.
• T568B wiring. It comes in 0.5 to 50 ft lengths and nine colors for color-coding your network.

Where It Fits

It suits switch-to-server and top-of-rack links, rack-to-rack runs inside a data center row, storage and backup networks, switch stacking and uplinks, test benches and labs, and workstations with 10G or 25G NICs where the cable should never be the bottleneck.

Good to Know

Cat8 is a 30-meter cable by design; the 50 ft option is well inside that. A shield only works when it's grounded, so plug this cord into shielded jacks, patch panels, or switch ports. At 8.0 mm it's roughly twice the diameter of a Cat6A slim cord, so plan for bend radius and bundle size. Most 25G and 40G switch ports today are SFP28 and QSFP+ rather than RJ45, so check your switch has 25GBase-T or 40GBase-T copper ports before buying for those speeds; on 10G ports this cord works, but the shielded Cat6A cord does the same job for less.
