A shielded plug only shields if the shell is bonded to the cable's shield and the jack at the other end is shielded too, so fold the foil or braid back over the jacket where the shell's crimp tab lands, make sure the drain wire is under it, and use shielded jacks and patch panels throughout; one unshielded link in the chain turns the shield into an antenna. Measure the cable before ordering: this plug is for 22 to 24 AWG conductors insulated to 1.35 to 1.45 mm and a jacket under 8.0 mm, which is Cat7 and Cat8 territory; a Cat6A cable with conductors insulated to 1.05 to 1.15 mm will swim in the channels and wants the PLG-R45-CT6AS instead, and a shielded cable whose conductors measure 1.35 to 1.45 mm fits this plug whatever the jacket is printed with. Strip, untwist as little as possible, hold the T568B order, and check it through the clear housing before the tool closes, since the crimp can't be undone. Use a crimp tool whose die closes the shield tab as well as the contacts; a plain RJ45 die leaves the shield loose. The boot goes on the cable before the plug, not after. Bond the shield at one end only unless the two ends share a ground, since a shield grounded at both ends in two buildings carries the ground difference as current. Cat7 and Cat8 cable is stiff, so keep the bend radius generous at the plug; a sharp bend there is where the foil tears. An RJ45 plug on Cat7 cable makes a Cat6A-class link in practice, since Cat7 proper uses a different connector; the gain is the heavier shielded cable, not a higher category on the tester.
