CAT6A Direct Burial Cable 1000ft - Shielded LSZH, 23AWG Waterproof 10G

This is the Cat6A for 10G runs underground. It's double-jacketed: a UV-stabilized low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) outer jacket takes the sun, soil, and a -40 °C to 60 °C range, and under it a second, water-blocking PVC jacket keeps moisture off the pairs if the outer jacket is ever nicked. Between the two, an aluminum-mylar foil with a tinned copper drain wire blocks interference from power sharing the trench and keeps alien crosstalk between bundled cables out of the 10G budget. There's no gel inside, so terminating it is as clean as terminating indoor cable, and the LSZH outer gives off little smoke and no corrosive gas where the run comes inside.

Cat6A is the category that carries 10GBase-T over a full 100 m channel. Underneath are 23 AWG solid bare copper conductors with HDPE insulation, full gauge for the lowest loss, with a cross-shaped spline holding the four pairs apart along the whole run. It comes on a 1000 ft wooden spool with a rip cord and footage markings on the jacket.

Features

• 10GBase-T over a full 100 m channel. It also runs 5G, 2.5G, and 1G links, and works with Cat6 and Cat5e equipment.
• Internal water-blocking jacket. A second PVC jacket inside the outer one keeps groundwater off the pairs. No gel to clean off at termination.
• F/UTP overall foil shield with tinned copper drain wire. It blocks EMI and RFI from buried power lines and nearby equipment, holds alien crosstalk down in dense bundles, and the tinned drain resists corrosion in damp conditions.
• UV-stabilized LSZH outer jacket, direct burial rated. It resists moisture, soil chemicals, and sunlight, and is flame-retardant to IEC 60332-1 with low smoke and no halogen acids if it burns.
• 23 AWG solid bare copper. Full-gauge solid conductors for the lowest loss over a full channel and the least voltage drop on PoE runs. No copper-clad aluminum.
• HDPE insulation with a pair separator. Moisture-resistant, with tight pair twists and a cross-shaped spline that keeps the pairs at a fixed spacing for crosstalk control at 10G.
• -40 °C to 60 °C operating range. It works through frozen ground and summer heat.
• Rip cord. Strip the outer jacket without nicking the foil or the inner jacket.
• Sequential footage markings. Measure trench runs and track what's left on the spool.
• 1000 ft wooden spool. Standard TIA-568 pair colors inside.

Where It Fits

It suits 10G links between buildings on a campus, farm, or industrial site, buried feeds to multi-gig access points and wireless bridges, camera and gate runs near power, underground runs that come up into tunnels, utility rooms, or other enclosed spaces where LSZH is specified, and any buried 10G link that would be expensive to dig up and replace.

Good to Know

Outdoor cable brings lightning and surge risk into the building with it. Put a gas-discharge Ethernet surge protector at each entry point, bonded to the building ground, and ground the shield's drain wire at one end. This cable carries the IEC 60332-1 flame rating rather than a CM, CMR, or CMP listing, so under the NEC it's limited to 50 feet inside a building; transition to a listed cable at the entry. Bury it at least 18 to 24 inches deep, or per local code, and consider conduit anyway where the ground gets dug up. A shield only works when it's grounded, so terminate on shielded Cat6A jacks. Solid conductors are for permanent runs; terminate on jacks and patch panels, not crimped plugs.
