A 10 Gigabit build on unshielded Cat6A lives or dies at the jack, where the pairs come untwisted to meet the contacts. This Cat6A keystone jack is built to hold the margin there: a 90 degree 110-type IDC jack rated for 10GBASE-T to 100 m, on a press-fit PCB where the contacts are pressed into plated-through holes to make a gas-tight, solder-free, lead-free connection instead of a soldered one. The IDC contacts are phosphor bronze, the plug contacts are gold over nickel, the housing is fire-retardant plastic, and the pair-keeping design holds each pair twisted up to the contact, with the T568A and T568B color codes printed on the jack. It's a slim, high-density profile that snaps into any standard keystone opening in a wall plate, surface box, or patch panel, terminates with a standard 110 punch-down tool or a JackRapid tool for all eight conductors at once, and is rated for PoE++ at 100 W under 802.3bt. ETL verified and UL compliant to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2, in seven colors so the 10G ports can be told from the rest. For the shielded Cat6A jack, the MIG6A-SHD; for Cat6, the MIG6-90 is the same jack a category down.

Features

  • Cat6A, 10G to 100 m. Rated for 10GBASE-T through the jack, ETL verified to ANSI/TIA-568-C.2.
  • 90 degree 110-type IDC termination. Punches down with a standard 110 tool or a JackRapid tool; wiring label printed on the jack.
  • Press-fit PCB. Contacts pressed into plated-through holes for a gas-tight, solder-less, lead-free connection.
  • Pair-keeping design. Holds the pairs twisted to the IDC for the untwist 10G needs.
  • PoE++ ready. 802.3bt 4PPoE up to 100 W.
  • Gold over nickel plug contacts, phosphor bronze IDCs. Corrosion resistance and wear through repeated terminations.
  • Slim high-density profile. 16.1 mm wide, fire-retardant housing.
  • Seven colors. Black, blue, green, orange, red, white, and yellow.

Where It Fits

It suits structured cabling installers terminating Cat6A drops at the wall plate and the patch panel on a 10G build, data center and server room techs landing Cat6A to a rack panel for 10GBASE-T to the top of rack, Wi-Fi 6E and 7 access point installs where the uplink is 2.5G, 5G, or 10G, AV and security integrators landing camera, display, and lighting runs on PoE++ at the full 100 W, anyone who has run Cat6A through a Cat6 jack and watched the 10G link negotiate down, a patch field that codes the 10G ports by jack color, and a job that already has the Cat6A bulk cable from the bulk copper collection and the WP2-series wall plates and keystone patch panels it snaps into. For a shielded Cat6A run, the MIG6A-SHD; for Cat6 drops, the MIG6-90; for joining two plugged Cat6A cords through a plate, the MIG6A-COUU coupler.

Good to Know

Press-fit is how the contacts meet the board, not how the cable meets the jack; the cable still terminates by punching each conductor down on the 110 IDC, with a 110 blade in one firm stroke, cut side out, or with a JackRapid tool that seats and trims all eight at once. Match the color to the A or B label on the jack and use one standard across the building. Keep the pair untwist as short as the pair-keeper allows, since untwist is what costs a 10G link its margin, and strip only as much jacket as the jack needs. The page doesn't state a wire gauge; Cat6A solid is 23 AWG and 110 IDCs take 22 to 26, but 22 AWG Cat6A exists and is worth checking before you terminate it. Alien crosstalk is the Cat6A problem, and an unshielded jack in a dense panel sits close to its neighbors; keep the bundle loose behind the panel and test the channel, because a 10G link that's marginal usually is marginal in the bundle, not the jack. The 100 W PoE++ rating is the jack's; the channel still needs cable and a panel rated for it, and 4PPoE at 100 W in a bundle wants cable sized for the heat. Count the jack as a connection in the channel budget, four across 100 m. It's unshielded, so it belongs on UTP cable; a shielded run needs the MIG6A-SHD. Keep it indoors; it's not a weatherproof part.
