CAT6A LSZH Bulk Ethernet Cable, Solid Copper, FTP, 23 AWG - 1,000 ft

This is the Cat6A for spaces where the smoke from a burning cable would be as dangerous as the fire: tunnels, transit systems, ships, enclosed control rooms, and any building whose spec calls for LSZH. A low-smoke zero-halogen jacket gives off little smoke and no corrosive acid gas when it burns, which is why it's specified where people can't leave quickly or where the equipment nearby is expensive to replace. The jacket is also UV-resistant, so a run can pass through an outdoor enclosure or along a wall between buildings without a transition to a separate outdoor cable.

Inside, an aluminum-mylar foil with a tinned copper drain wire blocks interference and keeps alien crosstalk between bundled cables out of the 10G budget. Cat6A is the category that carries 10GBase-T over a full 100 m channel, and the 23 AWG solid copper conductors are full gauge for the lowest loss. It's ETL Verified to the Cat6A standard and comes on a 1000 ft wooden spool with footage markings on the jacket.

Good to Know

LSZH is a European and international classification, not a North American one. This cable carries the IEC 60332-1 flame rating, not a CM, CMR, or CMP listing, so under the NEC it can't be run in walls, risers, or plenums in a U.S. building the way listed cable can; it's for the enclosed, exposed, and conduit installations where LSZH is specified, and for projects built to IEC rules. If the job is an ordinary U.S. commercial building, use the CMR or CMP Cat6A instead. A shield only works when it's grounded, so terminate on shielded Cat6A jacks and patch panels and ground the drain wire at one end. This cable isn't rated for direct burial. LSZH jackets are stiffer than PVC and scuff more easily on a pull, so use a lubricant and respect the bend radius, about four times the cable diameter. Solid conductors are for permanent runs; terminate on jacks and patch panels, not crimped plugs.
