This is stranded Cat6 for making your own patch cords. Stranded conductors flex where solid ones fatigue, so when you need a multi-gig jumper in a length nobody sells, a run to a cart or a machine that moves, or a box of cable that terminates cleanly in crimp plugs, this is the one to keep on the shelf.

It's Category 6, rated for Gigabit and multi-gig Ethernet, with 24 AWG bare copper conductors, HDPE insulation, and a CM-rated PVC jacket, ETL Verified. It comes in a 1000 ft pull box with footage markings on the jacket.

Features

• 24 AWG stranded bare copper. It contains no copper-clad aluminum, and the stranding is what makes it flex without breaking.
• Gigabit and multi-gig rated. It runs 10/100/1000 Mbps, 2.5G, and 5G links, and 10GBase-T over short patch runs.
• Unshielded (UTP). No shield means no grounding to worry about and the easiest cable to terminate.
• CM-rated PVC jacket, ETL Verified. Approved for general in-wall and raceway use, and RoHS compliant.
• HDPE insulation. Tight, consistent pair twists for crosstalk control.
• Sequential footage markings. You can see what's left in the box and cut cords to length without a tape.
• 1000 ft pull box. The cable pays out from the center without twisting or tangling.
• Nine jacket colors. For color-coding the cords you build.

Where It Fits

It suits custom patch cords for racks, desks, and equipment cabinets, cabling to carts, kiosks, and machines that move, AV and event setups that get rolled up and reused, and short flexible runs anywhere a factory patch cord is the wrong length.

Good to Know

Stranded cable is for patch cords and short flexible runs, not permanent in-wall links. TIA specifies solid conductors for horizontal cabling, and punch-down jacks and patch panels are designed to bite solid wire; stranded wire in a punch-down is a loose connection waiting to happen. Terminate this cable with Cat6 RJ45 plugs rated for stranded conductors. Cat6 carries 10G over short distances only; a patch cord built from this cable is fine for 10G in the rack. For permanent runs, use the solid Cat6 riser cable. For patch cords near motors, drives, or power equipment, use the shielded stranded version. For dense patch panels where cable bulk is the problem, the slim 28 AWG stranded cable is about half the diameter.
