CAT6 Slim Cable 1000ft - 28AWG Stranded UTP, Space-Saving Design

This is the cable your slim patch cords are made of, by the box. At 3.8 mm, it's about half the diameter of standard Cat6 cord, so when you're building jumpers for a full patch panel or a top-of-rack switch, the bundles stay small and the air keeps moving. Stranded 28 AWG conductors keep it flexible enough to dress tightly into cable managers, and nine jacket colors let you color-code as you build.

It's Category 6, rated for Gigabit and multi-gig Ethernet, with bare copper conductors, HDPE insulation, and a CM-rated PVC jacket. It comes in a 1000 ft pull box with footage markings on the jacket.

Features

• Slim 3.8 mm diameter. About half the diameter of 24 AWG Cat6, so a bundle takes up roughly a quarter of the space.
• 28 AWG stranded bare copper. It contains no copper-clad aluminum, and the fine stranding makes it the most flexible cable in the Cat6 line.
• Gigabit and multi-gig rated. It runs 10/100/1000 Mbps, 2.5G, and 5G links, and 10GBase-T over short patch runs.
• Unshielded (UTP). No shield means no grounding to worry about and the easiest cable to terminate.
• CM-rated PVC jacket. Approved for general indoor use, and RoHS compliant.
• HDPE insulation. Tight, consistent pair twists for crosstalk control.
• Sequential footage markings. You can see what's left in the box and cut cords to length without a tape.
• 1000 ft pull box. The cable pays out from the center without twisting or tangling.
• Nine jacket colors. For color-coding the cords you build.

Where It Fits

It suits custom slim patch cords for dense patch panels and top-of-rack switches, jumpers in server cabinets and network closets where airflow matters, portable racks and lab benches, and any short run where standard Cat6 cord is too bulky to dress cleanly.

Good to Know

This is patch cord stock, not cable for permanent runs. TIA specifies solid conductors for horizontal cabling, and punch-down jacks won't hold 28 AWG stranded wire. Terminate it with RJ45 plugs made for 28 AWG; standard Cat6 plugs are sized for 23 and 24 AWG and won't grip the smaller conductor. Because 28 AWG has higher resistance than 24 AWG, TIA reduces the allowed channel length when slim cords are used, and for PoE it limits bundles to 12 cords or fewer; keep slim cords short and inside the rack. Cat6 carries 10G over short distances only, which is fine for a jumper. For a plenum ceiling or a riser, this CM cable isn't rated.
