This is the shielded Cat6 for permanent runs: in walls, above non-plenum ceilings, and up through riser shafts between floors, where the cable tray shares the route with power conduit, elevator machinery, or imaging equipment. An overall aluminum foil wraps all four pairs, with a tinned copper drain wire for grounding, so links that would drop packets on plain UTP stay clean. It's UL Listed with the CMR riser rating printed on the jacket, so it passes inspection without a conversation.

It's Category 6, with 24 AWG solid bare copper conductors and HDPE insulation, rated for Gigabit and multi-gig Ethernet with headroom for 2.5G and 5G links. It comes on a 1000 ft wooden spool with footage markings on the jacket.

Features

• F/UTP overall foil shield with tinned copper drain wire. It blocks EMI and RFI from power distribution, motors, lighting ballasts, and medical equipment, and keeps the cable's own signal from radiating out.
• CMR riser rated, UL Listed. Approved for riser runs between floors as well as general in-wall and ceiling use. It also carries a CL2R listing for Class 2 low-voltage circuits.
• 24 AWG solid bare copper. Full-gauge solid conductors for the lowest loss over a full 100 m channel, and no copper-clad aluminum.
• Gigabit and multi-gig rated. It runs 10/100/1000 Mbps, 2.5G, and 5G links over a full channel, and 10GBase-T over short runs.
• HDPE insulation. Tight, consistent pair twists for crosstalk control.
• Flame-retardant PVC jacket. RoHS compliant.
• Sequential footage markings. You can see what's left on the spool and cut runs to length without a tape.
• 1000 ft wooden spool. Standard TIA-568 pair colors inside.
• Seven jacket colors. For color-coding by floor, VLAN, or system.

Where It Fits

It suits riser and horizontal runs in hospitals, clinics, and labs, manufacturing and industrial buildings, multi-story offices with cable trays near power conduit, elevator and mechanical rooms, PoE camera and access point drops near electrical gear, and any permanent multi-gig link where plain UTP has been flaky.

Good to Know

A shield only works when it's grounded. Terminate this cable on shielded Cat6 jacks and patch panels, ground the drain wire at one end, normally the patch panel, and use shielded patch cords and switch ports so the shield is continuous end to end. CMR covers risers and general indoor spaces but not plenum air-handling ceilings; for those, use a shielded CMP cable. Cat6 carries 10G over short distances only; for 10G on a full channel, use Cat6A. Solid conductors are for permanent runs; terminate on jacks and patch panels, not crimped plugs. For patch cords or anything that flexes, use the shielded stranded version of this cable.
