This is the cord for the places where foil alone hasn't been enough. Each of the four pairs is wrapped in its own foil, and a tinned copper braid surrounds all four (S/FTP). The foil stops high-frequency interference and crosstalk between pairs; the braid handles the low-frequency noise from motors, drives, and power distribution, and gives the shield a solid, low-resistance path to ground. Shielded metal RJ45 plugs at both ends carry that ground through to the jack.
The 26 AWG stranded copper conductors keep it flexible for a double-shielded cable, at 6.0 mm. It meets Category 6 and works with Cat5e and Cat6A equipment.
Features
- S/FTP double shielding. Foil on every pair plus an overall braid, for the most interference rejection available in a Cat6 patch cord.
- Shielded RJ45 plugs. The metal plug housing carries the shield through to a grounded jack.
- Gigabit and multi-gig rated. It runs 10/100/1000 Mbps, 2.5G, and 5G links, and 10GBase-T over short patch runs.
- 26 AWG stranded bare copper. It contains no copper-clad aluminum, and the stranding keeps it flexible.
- Molded snagless strain-relief boot. It protects the latch when you pull cable through a bundle.
- Flexible PVC jacket. The cable is RoHS compliant.
- T568B wiring. It comes in 0.5 to 100 ft lengths and eight colors for color-coding your network.
Where It Fits
It suits manufacturing floors with heavy machinery and variable-frequency drives, switchgear rooms and racks beside UPS or power distribution, broadcast and AV production, medical imaging and lab equipment rooms, and any link where a foil-shielded cord still isn't clean.
Good to Know
A shield only works when it's grounded. Plug this cord into shielded jacks, patch panels, or switch ports so the braid has a path to ground; on an unshielded port it still works as a normal cable but you lose the shielding benefit. Cat6 carries 10G over short distances only; if you need 10G on a longer channel in a noisy spot, use the shielded Cat6A cord. For moderate interference, the F/UTP Cat5e or Cat6 cords are cheaper and more flexible.
