This is stranded shielded Cat6 for making your own patch cords. Stranded conductors flex where solid ones fatigue, so when you need a shielded multi-gig jumper in a length nobody sells, or a cable that runs to a machine that moves, this is the box to have on the shelf. An overall aluminum foil wraps all four pairs, with a tinned copper drain wire for grounding, so the cords you build from it stand up to motors, drives, and power equipment the way factory shielded patch cords do.

It's Category 6, rated for Gigabit and multi-gig Ethernet, with 24 AWG bare copper conductors, HDPE insulation, and a CM-rated PVC jacket, ETL Verified. It comes on a 1000 ft wooden spool with footage markings on the jacket.

• F/UTP overall foil shield with tinned copper drain wire. It blocks EMI and RFI from power equipment, motors, and lighting, and keeps the cable's own signal from radiating out.

Where It Fits

It suits custom shielded patch cords for racks and equipment cabinets, machine and control panel cabling that flexes, camera and access point pigtails near electrical gear, portable and temporary shielded setups, and short runs in manufacturing, medical, and lab spaces where plain UTP has been flaky.

Good to Know

Stranded cable is for patch cords and short flexible runs, not permanent in-wall links. TIA specifies solid conductors for horizontal cabling, and punch-down jacks and patch panels are designed to bite solid wire; stranded wire in a punch-down is a loose connection waiting to happen. Terminate this cable with shielded RJ45 plugs rated for stranded conductors and for Cat6. A shield only works when it's grounded, so the plugs need to bond to the foil and drain, and the ports at both ends need to be shielded. Cat6 carries 10G over short distances only; a patch cord built from this cable is fine for 10G in the rack. For runs in a plenum ceiling or a riser between floors, this CM cable isn't rated; use CMP or CMR.
