This is a Cat5e junction box for splicing two Cat5e cables together permanently, without a coupler or a pair of plugs. Good to Know

A punch-down splice is a permanent fix and a good one, but it's still a splice: it adds a connection point that the standard counts as one of the four allowed in a channel, so don't put more than one in a run if you can help it, and keep the total channel under 100 m including the patch cords at both ends. Strip each cable back only as far as it takes to reach the block, keep the twist in each pair to within half an inch of the terminal, and punch both cables down to the same standard, T568A or T568B, matching whatever the jacks at the two ends use; the color coding on the block makes that hard to get wrong but doesn't make it impossible. Use solid-conductor cable; punch-down IDC terminals are made for solid 23 to 26 AWG and won't hold stranded patch cord reliably. On a PoE++ run, the splice carries up to 100 W across eight IDC contacts, so a clean punch on every conductor matters more than it does for data alone; a half-seated conductor heats under load. Test the full link after the splice. Mount the box where it can be reached again, use the label area, note it on the as-built, and don't bury it in a wall; a splice behind drywall is the one nobody can find in five years. The page doesn't say whether the block is shielded, so for a shielded Cat5e run, confirm before ordering, because an unshielded splice breaks the shield's continuity and the drain wire has nowhere to land.
