This is everything a Cat5e termination job needs in one hard-shell case: a stripper to open the jacket, a ratcheting crimper for the plugs, a tester to prove the cable before it goes live, fifty Easy Feed Cat5e RJ45 plugs, and fifty boots to finish them. The plugs are the pass-through kind, where the conductors slide through the plug body and line up on their own, so the crimper's single cycle seats all eight at once, and the tester reads the result for continuity, opens, shorts, miswires, reversals, and split pairs before you call the drop done. It works on Cat5e bulk cable in CM, CMR, or CMP, solid or stranded, for voice, data, video, and security runs alike, and the plugs and boots come in small refillable containers so the case stays organized after the first fifty are gone.

What's in the Kit

  • Adjustable cable stripper and cutter. Lightweight and compact, with a spring-loaded, self-adjusting cable holder and a durable blade that score and strip the jacket on Cat5e bulk cable cleanly, and a large finger loop to spin the tool around the cable for an even cut.
  • Ratcheting crimp tool. A ratcheted straight-action mechanism seats Easy Feed RJ45 plugs with the same crimp every time; the ratchet holds until the cycle is complete. Built-in cutter and stripper, molded rubber grips for a day of terminations, and an all-steel frame with a rust-resistant black oxide finish.
  • Network cable tester. Primary and remote units check UTP and STP cable through RJ45 connectors for continuity, open circuits, shorts, miswires, reversals, and split pairs, with wiring maps for T568A and T568B, 10BASE-T, and Token Ring, and a debug mode that isolates a specific wiring fault.
  • Fifty Cat5e Easy Feed RJ45 plugs. Slide-through design lets you feed the conductors out the front of the plug for perfect alignment before crimping, keeping the pairs straight and stagger-free. For 23 to 26 AWG solid or stranded Cat5e, with gold-plated three-prong contacts.
  • Fifty slip-on strain relief boots. Made for Easy Feed RJ45 plugs, they relieve the pull at the connection point, protect a custom patch cord from strain and disconnection, and have a snagless profile that slides through racks and wall plates.
  • Hard-shell carrying case. Durable plastic with two locking hinges, with the plugs and boots in small refillable containers inside, so everything stays sorted between jobs.

Where It Fits

It suits an installer setting up for Cat5e work who wants the tools and the first fifty plugs in one purchase, IT staff who terminate the occasional drop and need a kit that's complete when they open it, voice, data, video, and security runs on Cat5e bulk cable, small-office and home-network builds, maintenance kits for a building or a campus, and training and apprentice sets where every piece of the termination workflow should be in the same case.

Good to Know

The crimper and the plugs are a matched pass-through system: feed the conductors through the plug in T568B order, pull them snug so the jacket sits inside the strain relief, check the colors through the clear body, and crimp. Check that the plug face is flush and clean after each crimp, since a conductor left proud can short in the jack. The plugs are sized for 23 to 26 AWG, which covers Cat5e and standard Cat6; large-diameter Cat6A and shielded plugs with a metal strain relief need their own plugs and crimper. Slide the boot onto the cable before you crimp the plug, not after; it's the step everyone forgets once. The tester proves the wiring, not the bandwidth: a pass means the pairs are connected and in the right order, which is what the field needs, and a certifier is the tool for a performance guarantee. Test with the remote at the far end and read both units; on a split pair the map can look right and the debug mode is what catches it. Keep the stripper's blade depth set for the cable in hand, and score and flex on a thick jacket rather than forcing the cut.
