C14 to C15 Power Cord, 14/3 SJT, 15 A 125 V, Black, 3 to 10 ft (PWRAP)

A server or a switch with a notched C16 inlet, the one a C13 cord won't seat in, still has to be fed from the PDU, and this is the cord for it: a C14 male plug for the PDU's, the UPS's, or an extension's C13 outlet, a C15 female connector for the equipment, on 14/3 SJT rated 15 A at 125 V AC for 1875 W. The C15 is the C13 with a notch cut in it, built for equipment whose power supply runs hot, and it fits a C16 inlet and an ordinary C14 inlet alike, so this cord replaces a C13 to C14 jumper anywhere in the rack and is the only one that works on the hot-inlet gear. The 14 AWG conductors carry a full 15 A load without the voltage drop or the heat of a lighter cord, and the 3, 6, and 10 ft lengths cover a jumper to the PDU in the same rack, a run to a UPS below, or a reach into the next cabinet. The C15 fits both a C16 inlet, the one with the ridge, and an ordinary C14 inlet, so this cord can stand in for a C13 to C14 jumper on any equipment in the rack, while a C13 cord cannot stand in for it on a C16 inlet; the notch is there so the hot-inlet gear only gets the cord rated for it. The cord goes between a PDU or a UPS and a piece of equipment, not into a wall: a C14 plug fits a C13 outlet and nothing on a wall, and the PWRAD is the wall-plug version of the same cord. The 15 A rating is the cord's maximum and also the rating of the C13 outlet feeding it on a UL-rated PDU, so check the outlet's marking against the equipment's nameplate and keep the total on the PDU within its breaker. SJT is a 300 V thermoplastic jacket rated for indoor junior hard service; it's for the inside of a rack, not for outdoors or for being walked on. A 14 AWG cord is stiff compared to the 18 AWG jumpers, so give it room to bend behind the chassis and pick the length that reaches with a gentle loop, since a 3 ft cord stretched tight between a PDU and a server will pull out of the inlet when the server slides forward on its rails. Seat both ends fully; a connector that's half seated on a 15 A load runs warm.
