Some fiber terminations happen where there's no room for a rack: the back of a traffic control cabinet, a wall in a closet already full of copper, the inside of an equipment enclosure. This compact indoor wall-mount fiber enclosure is sized for those: a 6-5/16 by 5-1/2 in black steel box, 1-1/4 in deep, that holds one adapter panel and comes with an integrated splice holder for up to 12 single fusion splices, so a 12-fiber cable can be spliced to pigtails and patched from the front in a footprint smaller than a sheet of paper. The adapter panel is sold separately, so the enclosure is built for the connector the job needs. It's 18 gauge steel with an electrostatic polyester powder coat, rated from −40 to 60 °C, and ships with four cable ties for dressing the fiber inside. For 12 fibers on the wall in a plastic box with eight adapter positions, the WMFP-014; for a rack-mount distribution point, the RMFP-015 and RMFP-019 slide-out panels.

What's in the Box

  • Blank wall-mount fiber enclosure. 18 gauge steel, black powder coat, with one adapter panel opening.
  • Integrated splice holder. Holds up to 12 single fusion splices.
  • Four plastic cable ties. For dressing fiber and buffer tube inside the enclosure.

Features

  • One adapter panel. Takes a single adapter panel for the connector type and count the job needs, sold separately.
  • 12-splice integrated holder. Accommodates 12 single fusion splices inside the enclosure.
  • Compact. 6-5/16 × 5-1/2 × 1-1/4 in, for tight closets, cabinets, enclosures, and DOT traffic control enclosures.
  • 18 gauge steel, powder coated. Electrostatic polyester powder coat in black over 1 mm plate.
  • −40 to 60 °C. Rated for an unheated cabinet.
  • Cable ties included. Four plastic ties.

Where It Fits

It suits traffic signal and ITS technicians terminating fiber inside a DOT control cabinet where every inch is spoken for, structured cabling installers bringing a 12-fiber backbone into a small closet with no rack, industrial and plant networks putting a fiber termination inside a machine enclosure or a control panel, campus and MDU builds that need a small splice-and-patch point per building or per floor, security integrators landing a fiber camera backhaul in a wall box, anyone who has tried to fit a 1U panel in a cabinet that didn't have 1U, and a job that already has the adapter panel, the pigtails, and the fiber patch cords from the fiber collections to fill it. For the plastic 12-fiber wall box with eight adapter positions, the WMFP-014; for a 2-fiber FTTH drop, the WMFP-003; for a rack, the RMFP-015 and RMFP-019.

Good to Know

The adapter panel is not included, so order the panel for the connector type at the same time, and match the fiber count to the 12-splice holder; a panel with more ports than 12 will have empty ones. The enclosure is 1-1/4 in deep, which is enough for the splice holder and the adapter panel but not for careless slack, so keep every buffer tube and pigtail within its bend radius, dress the slack with the included ties without cinching them tight on the fiber, and route the cable in with strain relief at the entry so the splices never carry tension. It's an indoor enclosure; the −40 to 60 °C rating is for the steel and the coating in an unheated cabinet, not a weather rating, and a traffic cabinet or an outdoor enclosure that houses it is what keeps the rain off. Mount it with screws suited to the wall or the cabinet backplane, and bond the steel to the cabinet ground if the fiber cable has armor or a metallic strength member. Keep the cover on when you're done and a cap on every adapter without a cord in it, since a cabinet full of relays and fans is a dusty place for a ferrule.
