Some ports don't leave room for a 6 in wrench at all: the F connector on a wall plate in a cabinet, a splitter screwed to the back of a lock box, a tap port with the next drop an inch away. The Jonard Tools ASWS-716 is the stubby 7/16 in angled speed wrench for those: a 4 in version of the ASW-716 with the same patented speed head set at 15 degrees, which slips onto a 7/16 in F connector, nut, or bolt from the side when a straight wrench can't, and the same double-ended design, one end to tighten and one to loosen, so the wrench never has to be flipped. It's polished chrome-plated vanadium steel at an ounce and a half, with a belt loop hole, and it's the one that fits in a shirt pocket. For the longer handle and more leverage, the ASW-716 is the full-length version.

Features

  • Patented 15 degree angled speed head. Easy access to connectors, nuts, and bolts where a straight wrench won't reach.
  • Double ended. One end tightens while the other loosens, with no flipping the wrench over.
  • 7/16 in size. For 7/16 in F connectors, nuts, and bolts.
  • 4 in stubby length. Fits where the 6 in ASW-716 can't swing, and in a pocket.
  • Chrome-plated vanadium steel. Maximum strength and durability, with a polished chrome finish.
  • Belt loop hole. Convenient storage and transportation on a belt or pouch.

Where It Fits

It suits CATV and broadband technicians working F connectors in lock boxes, house boxes, and behind wall plates where a full-length wrench won't clear the enclosure, satellite and MDU installers reaching connectors on a multiswitch or a splitter mounted tight to a wall, audit and disconnect crews who tighten and loosen dozens of ports a day and want the wrench in a pocket rather than on a belt, anyone who has had a 6 in wrench hit the box wall before the connector moved, and a pouch that already has the SST-716 security shield tool, the TT-series terminator tools, and the TWAF-71630 torque wrench for setting the final torque. For more leverage and reach in an open enclosure, the ASW-716; for 1/2 in hardware around the connector, the ASW-R12 ratcheting speed wrench.

Good to Know

The two ends are directional: one tightens and one loosens, so if the wrench slips or ratchets past the hex, you're on the wrong end, not a worn connector. Seat the head fully on the 7/16 in hex before turning, and keep it square to the connector; the 15 degree angle is for reaching the port, not for turning at an angle, and a wrench cocked on the hex rounds the corners. A 4 in handle gives less leverage than a 6 in one, which is fine for an F connector and is the point of a stubby; a connector that won't move with it is seized or cross-threaded, not under-wrenched, and the answer is the ASW-716 or a look at the port, not a cheater. It's a speed wrench, not a torque wrench; it gets a connector on and snug, and a connector with a torque spec, which is every F connector on a plant, gets final tightening with a torque wrench set to the maker's figure. The 7/16 in head fits standard F connectors; a 9/16 in RG11 connector or a 1/2 in nut needs its own wrench. Chrome plating resists rust but not neglect; wipe the tool dry if it's been outside, and a wrench this small is easy to lose, so use the belt loop hole. Tap ports on a powered plant can be live; check before working at the tap.
