An F connector on the back of a splitter in a house box, or on a tap port with its neighbors an inch away, gives a wrench almost no room to get on and a short swing once it's there. The Jonard Tools ASW-716 is a 7/16 in angled speed wrench made for exactly that port: a patented speed head set at 15 degrees that slips onto a 7/16 in F connector, nut, or bolt from the side when a straight wrench can't, and a double-ended design with one end for tightening and the other for loosening, so the wrench never has to be flipped to change direction. It's chrome-plated vanadium steel, 6 in long and under three ounces, with a belt loop hole so it hangs on the pouch next to the terminator tools and the torque wrench. It's the tool that gets a connector snug in a tight spot before the torque wrench finishes it.
Features
- Patented 15 degree angled speed head. Easy access to connectors, nuts, and bolts where a straight wrench won't reach.
- Double ended. One end tightens while the other loosens, with no flipping the wrench over.
- 7/16 in size. For 7/16 in F connectors, nuts, and bolts.
- Chrome-plated vanadium steel. Maximum strength and durability.
- Belt loop hole. Convenient storage and transportation on a belt or pouch.
Where It Fits
It suits CATV and broadband technicians working F connectors at the tap, the ground block, the splitter, and the wall plate, satellite and MDU installers reaching connectors on the back of a crowded splitter or a multiswitch, audit and disconnect crews who tighten and loosen dozens of ports a day and want a wrench that does both without a flip, anyone who has rounded an F connector with an adjustable wrench or skinned a knuckle on the port next to it, and a pouch that already has the SST-716 security shield tool, the TT-series terminator tools, and the TWAF-71630 torque wrench for setting the final torque. For 1/2 in hardware around the connector, the ASW-R12 ratcheting speed wrench is the matching tool.
Good to Know
The two ends are directional: one tightens and one loosens, so if the wrench slips or ratchets past the hex, you're on the wrong end, not a worn connector. Seat the head fully on the 7/16 in hex before turning, and keep it square to the connector; the 15 degree angle is for reaching the port, not for turning at an angle, and a wrench cocked on the hex rounds the corners. It's a speed wrench, not a torque wrench; it gets a connector on and snug, and a connector with a torque spec, which is every F connector on a plant, gets final tightening with a torque wrench set to the maker's figure, since over-tightening by hand is how a port's threads strip. The 7/16 in head fits standard F connectors; a 9/16 in RG11 connector or a 1/2 in nut needs its own wrench. Chrome plating resists rust but not neglect; wipe the tool dry if it's been outside, and keep it on the belt loop rather than loose in the truck. Tap ports on a powered plant can be live; check before working at the tap.
