24-Fiber LGX Adapter Panel, 6 Quad LC/UPC Single-Mode (FAP-SM-LCU-6Q)
Couldn't load pickup availability
This is a 24-fiber LGX adapter panel loaded with six quad LC/UPC single-mode adapters. It's a 1.6 mm cold-rolled steel plate, 130 by 30 mm, which is the single-width LGX footprint, with the six quad couplers mounted horizontally through it on their plastic flanges, so one slot carries 24 LC ports instead of the 12 a duplex plate gives. Each adapter has ceramic alignment sleeves and the blue housing that marks UPC, and the LC connectors on the pigtails plug into the back while the patch cords plug into the front, so one plate turns two spliced 12-fiber cables, or one 24-fiber cable, into 24 LC ports. It's the plate the RMFP splice-and-patch panels are rated with: 72 LC in the 1U, 144 in the 2U, 288 in the 4U. It's sold individually. For 12 fibers in a slot, the duplex FAP-SM-LCU-6DF; for the 12-fiber LC pigtails that plug into the back, the PGULC12-SM and PGTLC12-SM; for the cords on the front, the LCLCSM; for the enclosures, the RMFP-015, RMFP-016, RMFP-018, and RMFP-001.
Features
- Six quad LC/UPC adapters, 24 fibers. Single-mode, blue housings, ceramic alignment sleeves.
- Twice the density of a duplex plate. 24 LC ports in one single-width LGX slot.
- LGX footprint. 130 × 30 mm single-width plate; fits standard LGX panels and enclosures.
- Cold-rolled steel, 1.6 mm.
- Horizontal couplers on flanges. Each adapter clips through the plate on its own plastic flanges.
- Sold individually.
Where It Fits
It suits a data center or a carrier room where rack units are scarce and a single-mode backbone has to come out at the highest LC count per slot, so a 1U panel carries 72 fibers and a 4U carries 288. It suits a splice-and-patch panel where a 24-fiber cable is spliced to two 12-fiber LC pigtails in the tray behind and comes out on one plate. Installers filling an RMFP panel to its rated capacity use it, and so do techs swapping a duplex plate for a quad to double a slot without touching the rest of the panel. A wall-mount box with a single LGX cutout that has to serve 24 fibers is a candidate. It goes with the single-mode bulk fiber, the LC pigtails, the splice trays, and the LC patch cords from the fiber collections, and with the LGX enclosures from the fiber panel collection. For a 1U splice-and-patch panel, the RMFP-015, with three of these for 72 LC. For 2U, the RMFP-016, with six for 144, and for 4U, the RMFP-018, with twelve for 288. For a patch-only 1U, the RMFP-001. For 12 fibers in a slot, the FAP-SM-LCU-6DF. For an OM3 or OM4 plant, the FAP-MM-LCG-6DF, and for SC, the FAP-SM-SC-6D. For the pigtails, the PGULC12-SM and PGTLC12-SM. For the cords, the LCLCSM.
Good to Know
UPC is the flat-polish adapter, blue, and it mates with UPC pigtails and UPC cords; an APC connector, green, in a UPC adapter gives an air gap at the angled face and a loss spike, so on a PON or an RF-over-glass plant the panel has to be APC too. This is a single-mode panel; a multimode LC will physically fit, but the sleeves and the blue coding are for 9/125 µm fiber, and a mixed panel invites a wrong patch. A quad plate is dense: 24 LC connectors in 130 mm leaves little room for fingers, so plan the cord dressing before you load it, use cords with a pull tab or a flexible boot, and expect to unplug a neighbor to reach a port in the middle. Plug all 24 pigtails into the back before you mount the plate, since there's no room to do it in the slot, and keep every adapter's dust caps in until a cord goes in. Keep the A and B fibers of each duplex pair in the right positions on the back so the front polarity comes out as the as-built says; with 24 ports, a port map taped inside the door is worth the minute it takes. Check the LGX slot before you order: 130 by 30 mm is the standard single-width cutout, and this plate is the same footprint as the Corning CCH-CP24-A9, so it fits enclosures built to that pattern. The adapters are horizontal, so the duplex cords lie side by side across the slot and the panel's cable management has to clear them to the left and right. Clean and inspect every connector before it goes into an adapter, and label the plate's ports by fiber number so the tray and the panel agree.
