6 in Natural Nylon Cable Ties, 40 lb, Clear, Made in USA, Pack of 100 (NCTAA-1001)
Couldn't load pickup availability
This is a 6 in natural nylon cable tie, rated at 40 lb, for bundles up to about 1.5 in across. It's the plain, clear tie for everyday indoor bundling: speaker wire behind an entertainment center, the cables under a desk, the pairs in a telecom closet, a wire harness on a bench. The one-piece molded body has a pawl-and-tooth lock, a low-profile head with finger grips, an angled tail that finds the head quickly, and rounded edges that don't nick a cable jacket, and it's made from filter-grade nylon that sheds few particles. It's made in the USA and comes 100 to a pack. For outdoors or anywhere in the sun, the UV-stabilized black NCTAE-1001; for an air-handling space, the burgundy plenum NCTAB-1002.

Where It Fits
It suits home theater and entertainment setups where the ties shouldn't show against a light wall or cabinet, speaker wire and AV runs behind a rack, the cables under a desk or behind a workstation, telecom and network closets bundling patch cords and station cable indoors, computer builds and lab benches, automotive and transportation wire harness work, residential and commercial electrical rough-in where the bundle is small and indoors, high-volume jobs that go through ties by the hundred, and a job that already has the bulk cable, the flush cutters, and the tie bases from the copper and fiber collections. For outdoors or sun, the NCTAE-1001; for a plenum, the NCTAB-1002; for a tie that screws to the structure, the NCTAF-1001.
Good to Know
Natural nylon is for indoors: it isn't UV stabilized, so in sunlight it yellows, goes brittle, and lets go, usually in the first year, and for anything outside or by a window use the black UV tie. Wrap, feed the angled tail through the head, pull snug with the finger grips, and cut the tail flush with a flush cutter so there's no spur to catch a hand or a jacket later. Snug means the bundle can't slide, not crushed; a Cat6 or speaker-wire bundle over-tightened under a tie is where you find a failed pair or a crushed jacket a year on, so tighten until the cables just stop moving and no further. The 1.5 in bundle figure is a typical maximum for a 6 in tie, so leave room: a tie worked at its limit has little tail left to grip and pull. These ties are permanent: once the pawl is on the teeth it doesn't release, so lay out the run before you tie it, and plan to cut and replace if a cable has to come out. A 40 lb tie is a light-to-medium tie; for a heavy bundle on a vertical run, step up to the 50 lb ties in longer lengths. Nylon ties absorb a little moisture from the air and are at their most flexible in normal indoor humidity; a bag left in a hot dry truck for a season will be stiffer and more prone to cracking at the head when cinched.
