This is a 24-port unshielded Cat6 patch panel in 1U, preloaded. The 24 RJ45 ports sit flush in the front of a 16-gauge black powder-coated steel panel, and behind each one is a color-coded IDC block that takes 110 or Krone blades and wires to T568A or T568B. It mounts in any standard 19 in rack at 1.75 in tall and only 1.17 in deep, so it sits flat against the rails, and it weighs 3 lb. It's rated for PoE++ (802.3bt, 4PPoE) up to 100 W, UL listed, and RoHS compliant. The installation kit is in the box: mounting screws, cable ties, and instructions. It's sold individually. For 48 ports, the PP6-48NR in 2U or the PP6-48SR in 1U with a strain relief bar; for the Cat6 jacks at the work area, the KEY6-90.

Where It Fits

It suits small offices and home networks terminating a Cat6 plant in a wall cabinet or a short rack, where 24 ports covers the drops and 1U is all the space there is. It suits a branch office, a classroom wing, or a clinic floor with a modest Cat6 plant. Retail back rooms and small server closets use it, and so do installers who like a flat panel with no rear depth for a shallow cabinet. PoE installs landing a handful of camera, access point, and phone home runs are candidates. It goes with the bulk Cat6, the 110 punch-down tool, and the Cat6 patch cords from the copper collections. For the Cat6 jacks at the work area, the KEY6-90. For 48 ports, the PP6-48NR in 2U or the PP6-48SR in 1U with a strain relief bar. For 96 ports in 4U, the PP6-96NR. Good to Know

Twenty-four ports in 1U is the standard pitch, so the cords and labels have normal room and one horizontal cable manager above or below is enough. The panel is only 1.17 in deep, so there's no built-in strain relief bar; tie the bundle to the rack's rear rails or a separate bar so the weight is never on the punch-downs. Strip the jacket, keep the twist in each pair to within half an inch of the IDC, lay the conductors by the color code in T568A or T568B to match the jacks at the far end, and punch down with a 110 or Krone tool to match the blade you've chosen, cutting edge outward. Use solid-conductor cable for horizontal runs. Label as you go. The panel is unshielded, so it's for unshielded Cat6; shielded cable needs a shielded panel so the drain wires have somewhere to land. On PoE++ ports carrying 100 W, a clean punch on every conductor matters more than for data alone. A Cat6 panel makes a Cat6 link, which carries Gigabit to 100 m and 10 Gigabit only over short runs; for 10 Gigabit at full distance, the Cat6A panels.
